Would you live in Liverpool L8?

Would you live in Liverpool L8? What's it like? Run down inner city, or up and coming?

The area I am looking at is a bit South of Admiral Park, and everyone has heard of Toxteth.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Anyone? Must be some people here who live in Liverpool with some ideas about the place!

I have to say no too, however there are plenty of people who wouldn't live in the area of the city I live in. Do you live in Liverpool? Have you visited the area to see what it is like and if you feel comfortable there?
  • There is quite a bit of variation in L8, anything from large detached 6 bed houses to 2 up 2 downers.
There are certainly better areas, and worse areas, depends what your loking for and your budget.

This is in the area just a bit South of Toxteth town hall. I was thinking about going tomorrow to have a look around, but wondering whether I am wasting my time?

You could have a look on streetview to see what you think of the area before going there.

Hey OP I lived there in Toxteth L8 while I was at uni...not your usual student place...and It was fine there......I actually was so drunk once I left my door keys in the front door...with my car keys on...and someone had posted them through the letter box....a man came to knock a few days later I was a bit edgy as I lived alone...but he was lovely and was like you have to be careful love your car key was on there too! Ok this actually happened twice...ekkk...plus I used to always leave my car unlocked and it was never robbed....there was cds and money in there in the glovebox......when my friend stayed also she left the door open all night...

I felt safer here than in some of the nicer areas of Liverpool I lived in! Don't let people who have never lived there put you off...you need to go and see it for yourself and decide if you like the area. I found it easy to get around there but I do drive...however it wasn't a long walk from town on a night out and the buses were reasonable. It's probably not the nicest looking area depending on where you were but it's ok and if the price is right and you feel it's right why not. Personally I loved living near to Anfield and Stanley park but my favourite place ever was right by Newsham park again not the nicest of areas (have lived all over the city lol!!) but i'm not sure how expensive it would be in those areas I wouldn't imagine much more than Toxteth!! Good luck!

  • I live over in neighbouring L17. While L8 wouldn't be my first choice, the bit you're talking about isn't too bad I think (during the day at least, I haven't had much reason to go there at night). I dread to think what insurance prices are like there though, knowing what I pay for car insurance here in Aigburth

I don't know Liverpool - but we used to live in the same large postcode area (so equivalent to L8) as the known "eek" areas of town, and, despite our own street being quiet as a morgue - we still paid ridiculously for things like car insurance when insurers heard the first half of our postcode.
