BT Upgrade - please help

hihi .... I just rang up BT about my BB charge ... I thought it was £17.99/month for BB Basic (512kbps with 1Gb MUA), but I was being charged £24.99/month!

They told me I was on BB Classic (£24.99 512 kbps with 15Gb MUA forgot I opted for the extra MUA!)! I said, I am very peeved that I am paying so much when they are charging the same for 2Mb with 15Gb MUA! Lady got all flustered and said "oh, let me check your line, bear with me for one moment please" one moment later! "madam, your line can accept a 2Mb speed and I can upgrade you now for free and you will pay the same price" I told her I want a MAC number - (I have no intention of leaving though) She put me through to the 'please don't leave up department!'

Anyway, the guy offered me £6.50 off for 4 months (£26 (25%) or £5.20 off for 5 months (£26 (20%) Plus the 2Mb speed. Took me ages to work it out lol lol but told him that they worked out to exactly the same, so it makes no difference which discount I opt for! Then he said there was a third option at £2.60 off for 12 months (£31.20 (10%) don't even ask how long that one took - not sure what is up with me today :rolleyes: He was pushing me to take the 4 month deal saying I would save a lot - he was reluctant to repeat the 12 month deal so I kept asking him to repeat it while I worked out the math - and it was fun listening to him say what he didn't want to say lol:rotfl:

Anyway, got the 10% discount and the 2Mb upgrade and saved £2.60/month. Not bad for 15 minutes on a (free) phone call. Will save an additional £6.99 (AOL BYOP) when I get our BT emails sorted and get back to good old outlook express!:j O/H is gonna be so chuffed when he finds out we are gonna have 2Mb!

Yippee! 2mb download rate today!

And big deal, they're rolling out the upgraded speed to everyone - I got a few pounds off and I got my zippy rate earlier than most, so I'm happy...for now...
