Advice from you clever people please...

We currently have a virgin broadband and tv package costing about £40 a month.
In the interests of money saving I was looking at getting rid of the v+ box and buying a recordable freeview box instead. However- we still need decent broadband (3G not good enough) also we don't have a landline- and don't really want one!
So my questions are these;
Are the recordable freeview boxes as good as v+?
how cheaply can I get broadband on it's own without the expense of having and paying line rental on a landline?
Thanks in advance!

    You can't get ADSL broadband without a landline unless you get it via cable.

    Freeview + boxes have similar functionality to a V+, however you need a decent aerial to get good reception.

    Find out what you local telephone exchange is and look it up on Samknows, the LLU operators will have the best prices, 02 or, Sky/easynet.
    That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Your other TV option is Freesat via a dish.
    The PVR's available for the Freeview and Freesat platforms are excellent if you buy the right ones-I would recommend a Humax.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    I'm on broadband only 10 meg ([STRIKE]soon [/STRIKE]some time to be 20 meg) @ £21/month. Phoned up to cancel and was offered it for £14. Others on here have reported the same so assuming you're out of your initial contract period you should hopefully get that.
