I drink more fruit teas than green but I do love the green flavoured with orange from Holland & Barrett.
It's by the London Herb & Spice Company.
if you have an eastern European shop near you they have loads of different flavours,my friend is Polish and gives me some incredible flavours to try.
Melissa tea is great if you have trouble sleeping....I find it does really work!
I make up a huge jug of any flavour I have and keep it in a bottle in the fridge at work,to have instead of fizzy drinks,it's really nice.0 -
Wow thanks for all the replies !
Working from bottom up.. yes SnowBelle I do have a Polish shop fairly nearby I could nose in and a Holland & Barrett in town.
zebbscat that sounds like an excellent idea but alas no Chinese supermarket for 70-odd miles. If you have a brand name in Roman alphabet I could have a nose in Chinatown when I'm next in London.
Can anyone recommend a Chinese supermarket in central London or online ?
Frugal Mouse and mardycow thanks for the Clipper recommendation. Won't be adding lemon juice to mine though as I don't like it in Earl Grey.
sassyblue and jenniewb I found some Twinings green tea and it's OK but not fantastic. I should try stevia.. the thing that worries me about the fruit teas is that they taste so sweet I wonder if they have had sugar added.
juno you're absolutely right and hopefully that's the fun part.
Toastrack is that green tea teabags ? Great price not seen them in my local ASDA though. I'm doing the Lidl and ASDA schlepp with my mother Thursday so I'll look in both, mardycow suggested Lidl and I do like their rooibos.
I'm hoping that you're right geordie joe, but I'm not sure how organic Chinese tea is so forgetmyname could be right !
I've tried Liptons Morocco tea which had a hint of casbah in it, katz03 but peppermint tea does seem like a nice idea in summer. I grow herbs so I'm wondering if I could dry them and make my own mint tea ?? Anyone tried it ?
Would lavender tea work ???0 -
Yes Edwardia, the one I get from Asda is teabags (they might do loose, I don't know).
And there's more tea per bag (2.5g I think) than other brands I've looked at - great if you like your tea on the chunky side0 -
Edwardia....
Homegrown mint tea is gorgeous, make sure the mint has not been near any dogs or cats though! If you know what I mean..
You do not even have to dry it just grab a handful at pour boiling water over it add a little sweetener if you wish and leave until it goes nice and green,I have mine in one of those irish coffee glasses it looks really nice.
Can't help you on the Lavender tea though.
There is a Wing-Yip chinese supermarket in Croydon I think, you can also order on line.
Onwards and Upwards in your tea journey!x Clare0 -
Have you tried fennel tea. It tastes like aniseed. I can almost think I am drinking pernod - lol

Right, ASDA green teabags on my shopping list ready for fortnightly shopping marathon on Thursday, thanks Toastrack aka Sherlock Holmes. I'd never thought to look for tea content on teabag boxes !
SnowBelle that's fantastic, I think that gives me an excuse to go look for proper mint tea glasses
Savvyshopper I lurve that whole aniseed-fennel-pastis-ouzo thing. Do I use fennel seeds, can I buy fennel tea or do I need to plant some (think mine died).0 -
according to someone on hukd green tea or green tea with lemon (clipper brand) is on offer at tesco for £1, 50bags. Clipper do a loose leaf tea that imo tastes better and has lasted me a lot longer than the bags, but involves a bit more fannying around with strainers so I have teabags when in a rush in the mornings!
Home made teas:I would also recommend drying mint leaves and pouring hot water on, add a spoon of honey (aldis set honey is great value) if you need the sugar fix. Mint grows literally everywhere you look, I got mine from the local cemetery:).
If you are poorly (sore throat or indigestion) I cut up ginger into tiny cubes, do the same with a slice of lemon, and have hot water and honey with it. It's so much cheaper than buying the £1 for 20 twinings ginger teabags: 30p for the lemon and around 30p for ginger will last you a while.
Fennel: Not tried to make my own but will now someone else mentioned it! Looks from this link like you do it with the seeds:

OH has more or less given up drinking coffee so I'm wondering whether I could use the cafetiere for loose tea ?
Thanks for the ginger and lemon tip kittycatface !0 -
