Green tea help needed please

I need to cut my carb consumption further for health reasons and I'm going to cut down on tea with skimmed milk.
I have a few green tea teabags which my mother brought back from China so I tried it and even though the teabags must be four years old, it tasted fine with sweeteners. So I figure alternating with Earl Grey I can cut down on carbs and save money on milk too
So my questions are:
Anyone here drink it ? If so, which brands are the best ?
Can I buy it in Lidl, Sainsbury's or ASDA ?
Is it more expensive than Earl Grey or Rooibos ?
Thanks !

Think of all the chemicals in them to last 4 years and carbs will be the least of your worries.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

check out your local supermarket - they do whole ranges of fruit teas now - I got hooked when trying to reduce my caffeine intake. I'm not a great lover of green tea - and prefer the 'red' teas - blackcurrent is my first drink of the day. Strawberry and mango is lovely too. Peppermint tea is very good for your digestion.0

I've been drinking green tea for a few years now. I miss normal tea with milk so much and green tea is really the only feasable option for me as I can't stand the taste of soya in tea as it just pails in comparison to what I used to love. Herbal tea isn't something I ever want to have to drink again so green tea becomes the only option. (powdered coffee is just a big no go!)
I've tried many brands, supermarkets own, fairtrade, teapigs, clippers, twinnings.... Really not that impressed with any of them, have decided the best green tea I've had was freshly made (as in real leaves) by a friend, (real mint tea coming a close second) but will say I prefer it with lemon, either flavored bags or by squeezing fresh lemon in. The fresh stuff irritates my already unhappy teeth so I stick to the flavored versions.
Twinnings have some nice flavored versions such as mango and orange and so on, teapigs are also not too bad (though expensive!) Clippers green tea with lemon is my preferred lemon version as I can taste more of the lemon then some other brands, they're also doing a promo with Lush at the moment which is worth a look if your into the brand at all.
I will say that adding sweetener, may seem like a nice idea but if you were looking to green tea as a more natural way of doing things, the sweetener could be a bit contradictory! But thats if your attempting the "drink 5-6 cups every day" type of thing. Sweeteners are also quite acidic and can cause weakened tooth enamel so if you can leave that but out its worth doing so.0 -

I'll think of all the chemicals, if you can name one?
Tea is just dried palnt leaves, and dried plants can last hundreds of years as long as you keep them dry.0 -
I have drunk green tea for eyars, my favourite brand is Clipper which is sold in all supermarkets - i stock pile buy when offers are on, i just add a squirt of lemon juice, also Lidyl brand is quite a nice one too, enjoy0

I really like Asda's own brand - and it's excellent value at £1 for 50 bags.0

The different brands do taste different, as they tend to use different parts of the plant - think of PG Tips who make a fuss about only using the "tips". So you might need to try a few to find one that tastes right for you!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Hubby likes the Orange Flower ones from Twinings, they do a large range so you should find one you like.
Happy moneysaving all.0 -
Another vote for Clipper from me too.was ihn nicht umbringt, macht ihn stärker - Nietzsche0

we drink loads of green tea which we buy in bulk from the chinese supermarket. It's mega cheap and good quality. We tend to make it in a caffettiaire and put some fresh ginger in to give it a bit of a zing. You can also leave it to stew and drink it cold.:rotfl:0
