cash withdrawal woes

in Credit cards
ok here is the story
1 went to withdraw money from credit card at cash point, it didn't dispense the money, it swallowed my card
2 i went home, called the cc company who said that according to their records it had been dispensed, not sure how they could tell that i was there and knew it hadn't! they said to wait 7 days to see if it went back into the account, i asked for my card to be stopped
3 i logged on a few days later and as it was showing on my balance still i panicked and called the police to report it, they were sympathetic and arranged a pc to come and see me a couple of days later, however the morning the pc was coming i thought i better just check the account and to my jubilation it had gone back to 0 balance, i cancelled the policeman coming. he still called me and i explained the position, he said he would go and check the cash point anyway in case it had been tampered with, he said if there was anything else he could do to help just call
4 a couple of days later i received an estatement in my emails, filled with dread at receiving it as I thought oh no i shouldn't be getting one as my balance is zero, i logged on and low and behold it had been taken out again
5 i rang the cc company and was told to shush as i tried to explain the position but i couldn't get a word in edge ways, I was fuming to be told to shush, how rude! i was stressed enough as it is, anyway, the rude woman said a manager would call me
6 the next day a manager called me saying that i had called to complain about the 6 pounds cash advance fee (i wish it was only that!) so i then went on to explain that no i hadn't called to complain about being charged a 6 pounds cash advance fee so went on to explain the situation, including that i had now also called the police for a second time and that they were coming to see me, the cc man quickly said he would get the fraud squad onto it!
7 so finally today, the nail in the coffin, the policeman didn't come, i waited in all afternoon and was disappointed, and felt helpless. he called about four hours after he should have been here, he said it was not a police matter and to take it back up with the cc company
any advice gratefully received including any template letters i can download, amend and send to the cc company to help me get my money back
i don't need you to tell me that i didn't need to get the police involved but at the time the cc company was saying it had dispensed the money, and as i didn't have it who did!
at the end of the day i know it was not dispensed and the cc company are treating me like a criminal and i thought they were supposed to protect me! I just wish that I could afford to pay it back and close the blooming account!
i need a bit of :money: in my life!
yours stressed and depressed ...

The credit card company will be able to rationalise it with the bank whose ATM you went to. If no cash was dispensed with your transaction, then it should just be nulled.0

Contact your card issuer, tell them that the machine didn't dispense the cash, ask them to dispute it. Don't get upset or angry, just state the facts as it happened. The police don't need to be involved, what did you expect them to do ? It's a simple ATM malfunction that happens a lot. You don't need to download any letter templates, just call them.0

It sounds like you've been had by a false front on the cashpoint. Mr Fraudster will come along collect the cash & the card as soon as you've left. Can I find out my credit score? You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)0

yes i agree, the atm should be up, in theory, and it should be paid back into my account, however the cc company told me to give it 7 days and it is way past that ... and i have been in contact with them since0 -
I read about a scam where the "cash ejection slot" is tampered with so it appears not to open, but you're actually looking at a blank panel and the cash disappears into some receptacle that fraudsters pick up later that day...
Is it possible that you've been a victim of some kind of ATM scam, which is why the CC company are messing you around instead of realising the error...?0 -
But the card was swallowed.
Either it will have been returned to the issuer, or it's a scam.
What did the screen say when it swallowed your card?0 -

The bank will know whether there was a device on the ATM as other people would have been affected.0
