  • My sister doesn't like her kids receiving clothes either, I don't mind it. I often buy clothes for my sister's kids as she is very fussy with what she likes them to play with lol, clothes are easier to take back or get a gift receipt for.

If you are receiving a present I don't think you can be too critical.

How about one of those wooden models you put together like this: http://www.woodentoys-uk.co.uk/press-out_1.html We have a couple and I think they're quite good fun for all ages - adults as well as kids, and you can get all sorts of animals, dinosaurs vehicles etc.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
  • Thanks for all the ideas - I got a small transformer (car and robot so ticked two boxes!), a hotwheels car thing on a small track/slide, a dinosaur fossil egg that you excavate and a card game. Some of them were on offer (at Asda) so it all came to just over a tenner so very pleased with my efforts - compact, light and hopefully he'll enjoy playing with them too! :)
