S&s isa

Hi, I have £5100 in H&L unfortunately it's just sitting in the cash account and not doing anything.
Obviously with the next ISA deadline looming I'm looking to change this but given the deadline and that I've failed to invest the initial amount I'm cautious of committing more funds (potentially upto £27k come 6 April 2012), however if I don't use the allocation I'll lose it.
Could anyone suggest a cost effective way to invest this amount in low to medium risk just so it's earning something and who would this be with Cavendish, H&L etc. just to give me some breathing space to get upto speed.
I understand it's not possible to give recommendations but a 'what would you do' would give me food for thought.
Perhaps in retrospect it would be worth investing in some time with an IFA.
Any advice welcomed.
Thanks

Try using this. Look for a few funds which are low risk and if you want, provide income.
I did a search for Corporate Bond Funds, on the lowest risk and Inc and it returned 6 results, saw one which is Marlborough Bond Income. It's low risk (not no risk).0 -
Thanks for that Lokolo.
Even though it's a fund would you suggest it would be best to split the money over several funds e.g. this one and one or two other similar funds.
What would be the best way to buy these, I know different companies charge different amounts for this.
Any other suggestions very welcome.
Thanks again.0 -
I would suggest HL only because you have it in there at the moment. There's going to be some big changes over next few years and until everything is sorted and planned, I am sticking with HL.0

however if I don't use the allocation I'll lose it.
Exactly where is the cash? Is it in a cash ISA with them or is it showing as unallocated cash within an S&S ISA? If either of those then it is 'allocated' as far as using the allowance is concerned. If 'neither of those' then I'm struggling as I didn't think HL would hold cash outside of such dedicated accounts?
On the rest of your question. I wouldn't normally recommend them - but look at the multi-manager Funds on offer as a short term expedient whilst you look at other options :

Thanks MikeyYorks I'll have a read through those funds.
