    Four final points;

    1. Do you live in Scotland or England? (Different legal systems)

    2. Did you book and pay directly with Delta or through an agent?

    3. Was your email exchange re DTW connection times, direct with Delta or through an agent?

    4. Was your e-ticket with Delta a fully-paid ticket available to the public and not a restricted ticket e.g. a staff concession ticket through a friend?

    1. Scotland

    2. Agent (Expedia)

    3. Delta WebSupport (This is verbatim reply to my query about the re-scheduling - "With regards to your query, we would like to reassure you by confirming that the minimum connection time in Detroit is 1 hour and 15 minutes. We believe that 1 hour and 40minutes is enough time to clear Customs on arrival. "

    4. Yes

    Hope this helps.

    I disagree: life is short and so time is of value.

    The hotel that the airline provided represents adequate compensation for the wasted hotel booking, but the loss of part of the holiday is something for which compensation is due.
