How much did the postage actually cost & how much did you charge?0

As I see it, they ordered the item to be delivered by recorded delivery. They didn't get this so its item not as described IMO.
I'm with the buyer.
Edited to add - the buyer may have only paid a penny, but that's what the auction was started at by the OP. The buyer may have been prepared to spend a lot more, but didn't need to as they were the only bidder. If the OP felt they wanted more for the item then they should have started the auction at a higher price. Or have I missed the point?0 -

I've just re-read your posts & you sold it for 1p? I take it that you charged more than the stamp price & packaging costs on the p&p, else you would have paid to sell an item.
I don't know what Paypal will decide but I would state that you are happy to refund on return of the item. Paypal don't insist on partial refunds.
Whatever they decide though you are going to get neg FB & a low p&p rating.
It sounds as though your buyer is someone who possibly trawls through listings to see if he can get something for nothing.
What is his feedback like & what does he leave for others?0 -
What sort of packaging did you use?
Was it something that you paid for?
Why did you start something at 1p? Were you hoping for a few bidders?0 -
Ive edited my posts above as I dont think its a good idea to be too specific while the case is still open
Without being too specific I made about 20pence on the sale after postage & the paypal fee (the actual postage was about 50pence less than I charged) - certainly not enough to cover a £1 refund
the item was just something I had no use for & wanted to get rid of so I wasn't bothered too much if I didnt get much for it
Next time I'll just offer things on freecycle - it will be cheaper0 -
There is an option in the paypal dispute where you can choose to ask the buyer to return the item for a full refund
So basically he now has the option to return it to me by recorded delivery which will cost him about as much has he paid for the item
I was almost certainly going to win the case but Ive selected that just so I dont have to read his whining emails anymore0 -
Hi OP - I can't see you answered the main question - why did you list for RD and not send RD? Was it just a simple error and the actual P&P listed was what is cost you to send but you sent it 1st / 2nd class instead?0
