Which "Fridge Freezer" ?

We need a replacement FridgeFreezer to replace a "monstrosity"
My wife wants a seperate fridge and freezer - to sit on top of each other - on the grounds of reliability (if one fails - the other will be OK)
I think that a single unit will be better - I have never heard of a fridge freezer failing....
What brands (Max about £300) - should we avoid - which are OK ?

I have found bosch appliances to be very reliable also backed up by which magazine
My ex has a bosch fridge freezer we brought about 15 years ago still going strong
http://www.appliancesonline.co.uk/product/KGV33NW20G-Bosch-Classixx-Fridge-Freezer-White-23250.aspx
something like this is around the £300 mark bosch are ofering £50 cashback on this product at the moment so brings it in at £257
I can also recommend appliances online I ordered an american style fridge freezer from them in the summer top service0 -
I hate to tempt fate but I too have a 15 year old Bosch Fridge Freezer. That said it cost £500 in 1997 so I'm not sure if they're built to the same quality today or if I just got a high-spec one/large one (c2m high and 50/50 with 4 freezer shelves). BTW I don't normally remember how much things I bought 15 years ago cost; it's just that this was my first big appliance purchase!!0

avoid samsung, they look nice but apparently have a lot of reliability issues.
I just Bought an LG american GWB207FBQA
which? say LG are next to Miele for reliability0 -
Was it Samsung who had overheating / fire problems a couple of years ago ?0

OK We eventually bought a Hotpoint FFA52P at £329 from Comet
Delivery expected in 8 days (our choice)
Next Question - when they come to "swap" units - how long will the new one take to freeze the old freezer contents ?
ie) Should we empty the old freezer first ?0 -
I have bought one of those last May. It looks nice and slim but the freezer compartments are not very good, ok for a couple. I have removed one drawer to be able to have more space. The drawers are a pain, if you overload them they get stuck as you will find. If only I have listened to a previous review about that problem. The plastic tray is already cracked after a couple of months and today I have noticed there is a small rusky spot on the door hinge and it is not even a yr old. I bought Hoover because it was the only one to fit my kitchen and the fridge seems to be of a good size. I defrosted the fridge/freezer prior to delivery as they would not take it if it is not properly defrosted. Beko ones seems bigger but I like to buy one with a brand.0
