  • Automated Tesco told me to go f... last week - as soon as I get a letter I am going to appeal - from reading here many appeals have been successful...

I do have a credit history spanning many years, all greens, but did do an IVA in 2005 (all clear now on CRAs) and also have Vanquis with £1250 limit...

But, as others will tell you, Tesco are picky...
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.
  • I'm sorry to hear you've been rejected. I was in an exact same situation.
once you get declined you should receive a letter in post telling you you can appeal the decision within three weeks. this is what I did and today I got a letter to say my appeal got accepted.

ofcourse it won't work for everyone but I strongly recommend appealing using instruction found here forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=1612333

    good luck!

Always happy to hear great news like this!

When would you likely receive the letter around 7-14 days after applying ?

I got declined for Tesco CC two weeks ago - duly sent in appeal immediately and got a letter this morning overturning their original decision with £2500 credit limit - just have to sign papers and send back..

Check your credit rating with noddle.co.uk

They're free - so worth doing.
However, it's important to know that they are the smallest agency and so wont show everything.

Personally, I'd do all three, and bag cashback on Experian / Equifax. :D

I'm afraid an above average credit report will fall short of what many lenders are looking for. I think Barclaycard offer some sort of pre-application check which might be helpful to you.

Our score is a guide to your credit report based on the scoring products we build for many lenders. Lenders' scores do take account of more data and we make this clear on our website.

    Hi,

I recently applied for a credit card via tesco and then being told that I got declined and for me to check my credit history by experian which is above average.

    .

I could be reading this wrong, but they advised you to check your credit history, not your credit score. Were there any late payment markers or anything on there or anything other than shiny green ticks?
