in Credit cards
Hi,
I recently applied for a credit card via tesco and then being told that I got declined and for me to check my credit history by experian which is above average.
This happened last year and then I went for Halifax credit card which I got accepted for. I currently owe £1500 on my Halifax credit card which I will clear within the next 3 months and a Vanquis Credit Card which has had nothing go through it for the last 8 months...could the vanquis credit card be affecting it ?
Thanks.

What's your income?
Total available credit (cards and overdrafts)?
Your total debt (cards and overdrafts)?
Mortgage?
Loans?
Credit searches in the last 3/6/12 months?
And the same questions of anyone financially associated with you?0 -
Check your credit rating with noddle.co.uk0

If they think you're credit rating is so good, then perhaps they should back this up and offer you a credit card. This happened last year and then I went for Halifax credit card which I got accepted for. It raises the question, what's wrong with your existing credit cards.0 -

I earn approximately £30-35k a year
.2 credit cards: .Vanquis £1000 limit nothing remaining to pay
.Halifax credit card £1500 left to pay
.3 debit cards: Overdraft around £200 on each one however not in debt on any of them and have plenty of money in each one.
.No mortgages but had a credit check to get a mortgage which I was going to buy a house for and got accepted for on the mortgage offer.
.No loans.
.Perhaps maybe 4-5
Is it worth applying for the barclays card if they are less picky?0 -
Are you on the electoral roll? 5 searches in the past few months is quite high.0

Therefore does this mean I should be eligible to perhaps pass the barclays criteria ?
Also I am on the electoral role0 -
You already have a number of searches on your record, and each subsequent search you do will make you look more and more desperate (and therefore high risk) to a lender.
Stop applying, you're only shooting yourself in the foot!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I'm sorry to hear you've been rejected. I was in an exact same situation.
once you get declined you should receive a letter in post telling you you can appeal the decision within three weeks. this is what I did and today I got a letter to say my appeal got accepted.
ofcourse it won't work for everyone but I strongly recommend appealing using instruction found here forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=1612333
good luck!0
