Information re skype

Hello,

I've had a bit of a painful week; I've been given notice to quit my rented property earlier this week so have been hammering my mobile phone ringing housing advice, letting agents, landlords etc. I checked my balance on Friday and I've used all my allocated minutes + £67 worth of calls.

I dont have this sort of money available at the moment so I have asked them to put a cap on the account to stop me using anything which costs money. This has included text messages and internet etc which I thought were free on my account.

Currently on sim only 300 minutes - one month plan. Not sure I can get anything better than that.... I was thinking Skype might be a good idea to get ...

* can this be used on a dongle?
As my next home probably wont have the internet until I can afford it.

* how easy is to set up?

I have a X6 Nokia - would I be able to use this somehow, or have to buy a handset suitable?

Thanks

Could of things come to mind.

Skype out - The ability to call land lines is not free, it costs about a penny a minute to make those calls.

Also it uses data from you allowance, You most likely have a limit on that internet data you can use.

It may be cheaper to get a 2nd phone on GiffGaff or a cheap monthly rolling contract depending on how many calls you make.

I would imagine that would be cheaper than using a mobile though... at the moment its expensive to talk to my family very often. I do have a data limit but I am wondering whether it would be easier to get rid of my current Nokia X6 and replace with something more skype friendly such as a phone which runs on Android or another interface. Which brands of phones can you recommend for this?

    Thanks for any advice.
