Have you shown that to him?
This man believes he is above the law in every way possible. If he doesn't agree with a law he doesn't follow it. i.e. storing credit card details of customers that placed telephone orders, because he said he should have a record (i started shredding them cos i don;t agree with this practice)0 -
i would take some legal action, he sounds like he needs to be taught a lesson.
get looking for another job too, he isn't worth working for, £200 deduction is obscene, although i wouldnt stand for a tenner either.0 -
Write to him or tell him in front of a witness that you want your money back or you will take legal action to recover it. If he sacks you,so what..whats lost? Sacked? go see the CAB/solicitor and try and shaft him. Parade outside his crummy shop with a placard and leaflets until he pays you.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Tell him that its an unlawfull deduction, tell him you have spoken to acas for adviceDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
-
As above, give ACAS a call. They will be very helpful.
Furthermore, if you get dismissed because you instigate legal action against your boss, then this is also cause for further compensation, and again ACAS will help. http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1461
Good luck. I've been there, and understand what a stressful situation it can be.Your biggest asset is TIME! I'm focused on multi-generational financial freedom.0 -
It's not even the amount (for the £10, the £200 is outrageous) but it's the principle of the thing, and it does suggest he can't be trusted. So I would look for a new job, then the day you leave totally stuff up his orders. Gawd this sort of thing is just awful! Keep him on the good foot until you get something else, it sounds like you have lots of experience and should be able to get something.0

You all have an awful lot of faith in ACAS!If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

The thing is, its not
every week he kicks up a fuss about how bad the business is doing, yet we have slashed costs year upon year whilst increasing turnover/profit.
Distance selling regulations state the business should absorb the cost of the returns, not the staff members.
A while back I also had £200 taken from my wages after somebody commited card fraud on our website, (this was taken over 2 months), he said we should have checked the transaction in more depth HOWEVER he was unwilling to pay for the automatic card-checking scheme that our payment processor offers for 2p a transaction.
I really can't believe anyone lets their company make illegal deductions, which is really theft!0 -
Many thanks for all your replies.
Just a quick update: A product on the website was out of stock in the shop today, yet the reorder quantity is 5, whereas we only sold 1. He wants the remaining 4 to come out of my pocket as he doesn't believe we can sell them.0
