Moonrakerz and others seem to be able to see my light hearted comment for what it is.
Stop throwing your toys out of the pram, smoke some weed and chill. You will feel so much better.0 -
seriously though. You 1st asked that you want a 9.5kW shower and the cable you put in is rated to 8.5kW and if that would be alright. Is it too hard to understand that a 9.5 is a bigger number than 8.5????
And you will also see that its rated to "8.5" ..not "8.5 and anything higher if you only use the medium setting...and the high setting occasionally"
Electrical jobs arent the hardest things to do and will always work safely IF you follow the guidelines
You could alwayys use the 6mm cable as speak wire to play some "bangin' tunes" in the bathroomSmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
As it's for a shower it comes under part P anyway so your sparky could be trouble. So much for part P stopping cowboys!!!Nothing to see here, move along.0

All joking aside, there is a big safety issue here, the 6mm cable may well be able to cope with the current especially intermittently and will not get hot or burn your house down, BUT the earth cable in 6mm cable is not thck enough to pass sufficient current quickly enough to trip either the fuse or the circuit breaker so you may well get electricuted in the event of a failure.
This is one of the instances where a part time friendly spark loses out to someone trained in calculating the earth loop impedance of a circuit and the time taken to break the circuit in the event of a fault so that you dont die0
