£10 Credit taken for recieving 2 text messages

My mum has just phoned me to say that she recieved 2 text messages that have taken £10 credit off her phone. She hasnt subscribed to anything to recieve these and on a pension doesnt have much money and her mobile is the only phone she has. I have phoned a number to block these messages coming to her phone can I get the credit back for her ? The number the text came from was 85080. When I blocked the number for sending them it gave me the phone number of the company which is 0871 750 3156, I rung it and its an american lady speaking on a pre recorded message. Does anybody know how much this number costs to ring and has anybody got any ides how to claim the money back. Thanks in advance.

You can contact her network and tell them whats happened (but have your mum there as they won't talk to a third party without speaking to the acc holder first). They'll then check her phone logs on the network to see if she's called or texted the company, if she hasn't (and you make enough fuss) she may get her credit back..

Has your Mum voted on or entered any competitions on the TV?

I noticed at the weekend on one of these 'call in' shows (can't recall what - I was channel-hopping!) that at the end of 'Text 12345 for.....' (on the bottom of the screen) it said to put something like 'unsubscribe' at the end if you DIDN'T want to receive texts.

Might she've done that?
