Hello,
to cut a long story short, sons phone screen went black but keys still lit up and phone beeped to let you know it needed charging, had warranty from tesco as only bought in sep 11 - sent it off and it returned today with letter stating not repaired due to warranty now being invalidated due to the phone having water damage, which is not from our neglect, so from our point of view it must of been sold to us faulty as it sounds like it wasn't sealed properly. I am sending it off to LG to get it looked at, I know the phone wasn't expensive but surely thats not the point you don't expect a phone that is 4 months old to have moisture/water damage in such a short time, as tesco stated that this would have happened over a long period so then when the phone was sold to us it could have been faulty due to the short time we have had it.
Just letting people know that you can send it to the phone manufacturer to get a repair if its still in warranty for a 2nd opinion, we will wait for LG opinion on it and either get it replaced/repaired under warranty or buy him another. I am fuming abit because companies can use this as an excuse to invalidate a warranty which is definitely not fair when it does not have anywhere on your reciept when you buy the phone the terms and conditions of it, also it does say this does not affect your statutory rights, but no T&C's or where you could view those T&C's.

How is water damage not from your neglect? They didn;t sell it with water damage, but once your son gets it, was he not out in the rain, or had it in a wet pocket? It is so easy to do - and the user picks up the tab. Manufacturers may at their discretion agree to a swap, but only on goodwill, nothing more.
What T&C's are you referring to...? Your Stat Rights? These are enshirend in the Sale of Goods Act, and water damage is not included.0 -

My Mother and sister have a habit of dropping mobile phones into the toilet.
I bought my Mother a mobile phone a few years ago and she managed to drop it down the loo within 24 hours! At the time she told me it had fallen in to the washing up bowl, but later let slip that it had fallen into the toilet bowl. :rotfl:0 -
My brother dropped his phone into a mug of tea once :eek:0

My daughter has this Samsung phone you mention. She knows it as 'a builders phone'. It was my brothers and she has had two vodaphone mobiles which were either lost or not working and is now using this.
She is not worried about the look of it. She is just happy to be in touch with her friends again. She is at college and never has to worry about being caught in the rain.0
