HELP! Struggling to get proof of purchase for insurance claim!

I have put through an insurance claim for my mobile phone of which I purchase from Littlewoods.
I threw away the little leaflet sent with it on arrival months ago and so emailed Littlewoods asking they email the insurance company stating the date phone was purchased, make and model, imei, and my name.
They responded saying yes, then after emailing back to confirm the "draft" they sent me, a different advisor responded saying they are unable to email third parties regarding my account.
Is there any way I can get around this?
I have asked they send me the details in the post but they will only send me a statement which does not show the IMEI number. The insurance company say they cannot proceed without the IMEI.
Anyway, they said they will send a letter, only 7 days have passed, but still no letter. I at least thought they would send it first class considering the conflicting advise they have already given me, it's all starting to cause a big slowing down of the process! :(
My phone is due for upgrade in May, something tells me I won't have this one fixed by then either!!!

So, did you pay loads of money for the insurance that you in fact didn't have?

Does the company ask for IMEI or for a proof of IMEI?
The IMEI has to be on the box that the phone was supplied in. And you can find it just by pressing several buttons on your handset. In my phone I can see it in 'about phone'. Google for you handset.
  • Well it is part of my bank account and it is something like £12 a month, didn't shop about for just mobile phone insurance because I also have Greenflag breakdown cover with that package.
Littlewoods originally said, no we don't have the IMEI number because they are individual to the phone and you will have that, but when I said this to the insurance company they said no, we can't have it from you, it has to be from Littlewoods. So I have given the IMEI number to Littlewoods and asked them to quote this in the Proof of Purchase, if they don't though, I'm !!!!!!ed! :(
