also strange that she says she hasn't had chance to change her name with paypal yet but the email address linked to her account has been changed to her new surname and her ebay name also includes her new surname - she changed her ebay id to new surname in august last year but hasn't had chance to change her name with paypal for 6 months!
I think you have to send your original marriage certificate to paypal for them to change your name - I havent done it yet but luckily use hubbys. The name of the parcel will make a difference if it won't fit through the letterbox. You have to provide id to collect from the PO and her names will have to match.
It's such a pain trying to change your name, I've been married for 9 months and I think i'm just about getting there.0 -

I'm separated and changed my name back to my maiden name by deed poll - they needed that faxed to them along with a copy of my passport and a utility bill or bank statement and it then took them a few weeks to put it through. But although they changed the name on the visible part of my account, they didn't change it in my address book, so for about 3 months afterwards I was still getting parcels addressed to my married name. I think it's sorted itself out now - I bought something this morning and saw that the delivery address had defaulted Caroline [maiden-name].

Thanks for the explanation, I will let her off for that then0 -

Ebay buyers should factor in a postal delay when purchasing. It is not like going to a shop.
Mail order catalogues etc specify up to 28 days delivery.
i like to give options for people to have the cheapest postage possible (2nd class) or to pay a bit more if they want the item sooner (1st class or special delivery)
i think i would get lots more queries regarding costs for alternative services if i only stated 1 service0 -

I have never had to show ID at the sorting office to collect a parcel. I have even gone in there without an attempted delivery card and just given them my name and been given my mail. I realise it may be different for some people though.0 -
I would just do you best to get the item posted under 2nd class and make sure you get a receipt with the date on it. Then tell your buyer that you've send the item as per their chosen postage type and also add that you cannot guarentee a saturday delivery based on their chosen postage type.
Not much more you can do other than try and chase them for more money - which takes time...0 -
I won't be posting it until tomorrow afternoon so I will give them until lunchtime tomorrow to let me know if they want to pay extra for 1st class or special delivery.
If I don't hear from them then I will send it by 2nd class tomorrow afternoon and will obtain a stamped proof of posting.0 -

My sorting office makes everyone show ID, thought that was normal! So I can definitely see why she'd want the name right, I just wouldn't be allowed to collect a package if it didn't match my driving licence.
As for the postage, you are right to stick to what she has actually paid for.0 -
i send everything second class these days.
in my experience, the PO service is just the same whichever class you use.
first class is complete joke.
my local council sent me a letter last monday, it arrived friday! the town hall is about 2 miles from me.
a letter stuck to a tortoise would be quicker.Get some gorm.0 -
I price things first class and put a not in the instructions that if they want second class to ask after auction ended0

I send all my stuff 1st class, but an option in the listing for recorded delivery, and I think I have had one person who asked if they could have it sent 2nd class.0
