    Some venues there are no differnce but ours was £1400 for a fri or £2500 for a sat so thats why we have gone with a friday
  • Thank you for all the responses. There certainly seems to be some difference. We have an appointment next Saturday to view somewhere but wanted an idea beforehand. Forewarned is forearmed.
  • our venue was £200 more expensive on a friday and £300 more expensive on a saturday
    which isnt a huge amount unless your budget is only 3k!
  • I think our venue is pretty unusual. It is actually the same price fri-sun the whole year except November February and march.

    One of the venues we really love (but have now realised is beyond our budget :( ) has a HUGE difference between weekday and Saturday weddings. A Saturday wedding in April - October is a minimum of 200 per head (sorry pound sign doesn't work on this PC) and you have to have a minimum of 100 guests...so you're looking at at least 20k! Whereas the same venue does almost the same package for 60 guests midweek for around 5k. I would be happy to have it there midweek but I know loads of our guests wouldn't be able to come, so we need to just choose somewhere cheaper for a Saturday.

    £200!! per head :eek::eek:

    What on earth do you get for that! I'm staggered.

    Can I ask where it is so I can have a nosy at what £200 a head buys you.
    Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

    I would have thought it would be easier for people to get a friday off work on November than in the summer, although of course school may affect parents even if you're not inviting children.

    In some ways I would rather go to a wedding on a Friday and still have some decent weekend time too.
    :heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

    Ok well all the packages include accommodation for B+G on the wedding night, changing facilities for during the day, champagne for B+G on arrival from church/after the ceremony, red carpet for the ceremony or the arrival drinks, white table linen, crockery and cutlery, event manager, all waiting and bar staff, parking for guests, personal wedding coordinator, use of silver cake stand and knife.

    Deep breath..! And the 197 per head also includes: hire of chosen ceremony room, hire of chosen banqueting suite, hot and cold canapes during the drinks reception, two drinks per guest during the drinks reception, three course wedding breakfast, tea/coffee and petit fours, half a bottle of house wine per person, champagne for the speeches, evening finger buffet, menu and wine tasting for B+G, preferential accommodation rates for guests, a Master of Ceremonies, chair covers, and complimentary accommodation for both sets of parents.

    Then if you were really splashing out and went for the 227 per head package you get all of the above except it's a four course wedding breakfast, better wine, still and sparkling mineral water, a fancier evening finger buffet, the menu and wine tasting is for the B+G plus four guests, private breakfast room the morning after, and a midnight snack.

    And here it is for you to have a nosy... http://www.downhall.co.uk/weddings/

    I must admit it is ABSOLUTELY beautiful, more so in person than on the pictures. You drive up to it via a gorgeous tree-lined little avenue and then the building itself is just breathtaking. I am very sad I don't get to get married there :(

    Oh it has the (dubious) claim to fame of being where Jade Goody got married
