Been trying to get some general purpose furniture polish (Mr Sheen type of thing) in a trigger bottle as opposed to an aerosol - can't get anything anywhere! Have they stopped making them? If so, does anyone know something I can make up myself, perhaps using essential oil of some sort, that I can put in the empty trigger bottle, to pick up the dust and make the room smell nice? I loathe and detest aerosols!:o

They just started doing Mr Sheen in a trigger bottle - i got mine from Sainsbobs. Probably have the same problem as you do with aerosols x

I Went into town this morning to find a replacement for the teapot after breaking the handle off the 25 year old one we normally use. We found a beautiful big red one and OH said look it has a few scratches on the glaze ( hardly noticeable but...) so we asked if we could have a reduction, the cashier said 'we don't do reductions' so I asked if we could ask the manager anyway, he came over and had a quick look and said 'I can do it for £5,then the cashier produced a reduction form and filled it in!
So much for not doing reductions:P
(it was £6.99 on the price ticket and according to the shelves the produce is usually reduced by around 60% anyway *TKmaxx* ) so we went home all smiley

DS has passed his driving test! He got his new license in the post this morning.
Hopefully he will have more luck with job hunting now.

I'm just going to bumble along outside and do some gardening. We have overwintering onions in and they need a good weeding.
I did give it a go just before the snows but it was too cold on the fingers for more than 30 minutes.

This evenings grub will be Bolognaise.

I am freecycling our old homehub as we changed to another broadband co,so it is sitting outside in a labelled box and bag for collection. I don't really do face to face with strangers, never been comfortable with it, I am alright out of the home but meeting people at my or their home always fills me with nerves/anxiety so it is just easier to say its packaged for them to collect and they don't seem to mind not meeting the donor.

Anyway better get on or the day will be over and I wont have done anything outside

    Hi all,
been MiA a lot lately because of looking after poorly DD2 and DGD2 and DGD3 also I've been transforming DD1's spare room into an office for her and her OH. lots of painting done and DH has fitted a wall to wall desk he made himself out of thick MDF. All I have to do now is paint it.
2 Loads of washing done and dried as it's so sunny here, so lots of ironing to be done but think I'll tackle that tomorrow as DGD2 is here until tomorrow evening.
Went to morries and got ys mushrooms, peppers and onions so I've chopped them all bagged them up and put them in the freezer. Also got some reduced steak so I minced it and have made 12 beef burgers.
It's SiL2b's birthday tomorrow so as well as making him a cake I'm making his favorite dinner, roast Lamb with all trimings. I sorted out the chest freezer and found 4 whole legs of lamb I bought ages ago when they were half price at Mr T's. I'm still runing the freezer stock down and not spending which showed how much when I read my Visa statement today. Yippee !
Off to make the cake and try to catch up on here.
    Have a good week-end.

    Afternoon all,

Lovely sunny day here, not very warm, but cheerful....went to town on my own as OH wanted to watch rugby, bought myself some trousers in sale, as usual will have to take them up, was nice to wander in and out of shops without being asked 'what do you need in here?'...why don't men understand that you sometimes just need to LOOK.

Had a big breakfast this morning so think that dinner will be small pizza left over from last week's visitors, was going to have steak and mushrooms but seems a bit of a waste when we aren't really hungry.

Have lots of washing out but need to do some woollies which will just go flat on airer...everything we own in that area seems to be in washing basket, not sure how that happened.

Lou...look after youself, its good to see you so much more cheerful.

    Welcome Lacemaker.

Feel too lazy to get out into garden yet, means dressing up in boots etc so don't feel like it....remind me of this when I complain later in the year of small crops!

Beth...would you slow down woman! Hope that you are teaching DDs to do all these things themselves, otherwise they won't be able to pass it on to their children!

Hugs to all, have a good weekend

Thanks for the comments, I'm ok, just drowinig is polysterene beads & struggling to master hubby's new shift system.
I had DGS over this morning, we went to Tesco's to buy bathroom scales & fill the car up with petrol, then came home & made chocolate brownies.
    Have a good afternoon everyone.

  • Hi Chums.my car all beautiful and clean now thanks to DGS Bens hard work he did his Dad's as well which pleased him no end.(well the power washer was out anyway.)
Just going to have a rummage for something for dinner from the freezer. I am really getting used to not going to the shops at the moment which is great for the purse :):) I had an email from my friend who is on holiday in Madeira and apparently its only 5 degrees warmer there than here.
We are hoping to get away on our spring break towards the end of April depending on her OH's shift pattern, he spend a lot of time flying around the world with his job so we like to have a week away in the spring which means she's not stuck too long on her own if he has a fortnight away.Maybe Dorset we thought, as I can't ever remember going there .We both have ancestors from that area and probably do a bit of family history whilst there.

Right, I'm off to find something to eat then its feet up and a bit of knitting whilst watching t.v.
Have a good evening all whatever you are doing
    Cheers chums JackieO xxx

    Evening

Busy day here, made most of nice weather and spent morning in garden tidying etc. Washing was blowing nicely. Quick lunch, made couple of phone calls. Spent afternoon cooking, as well as pasta bake for dinner, have made cheese things and sausage rolls for couple of days packed lunches, plus rolls to go with HM soup for Monday tea, fruit/cinnamon rolls and flapjacks for DD breakfast as she not keen on cereal with milk and breakfast bars are so small and pricey. Also made some cakes for tin and freezer. Done while running in and out of living room to catch Enland V Wales rugby, DS laughed when he came to see score and I was sat rubbing fat into flour on my lap while shouting at ref! Really enjoyed it, first proper baking I have done in ages, although do odds and ends when oven on for dinners. Cleaned kitchen and loaded DW, so shattered just tried to turn TV over with mobile phone!!!
