Thinking of taking contract with phonebox direct - Cashback?

Options
Hi guys.

I was thinking of taking a contract with phonebox direct, and while I was browsing through the t&c's, I noticed this bit which confused me:
We therefore recommend that you pay your bills on time and do not cancel or take a summary itemised bill from the network

I was thinking of going for a vodafone contract, and noticed that in the information, it said the to get itemised billing, it costs an extra £1.50 p/m. But does what I quoted from the t&c's mean that they recommend not to get itemised billing?

Also, when I looked through to purchase, it said that I can buy bundles for 50 text messages, 16mms or £6 of data (or combination). If I took that out, would that somehow mess up the cashback claim???

I was also going to port my current number over, and noticed that it says if I do this, I need to include the first bill showing the number that they gave me on it. So I would assume this doesn't invalidate the cashback?

Would appreciate if anyone could advise on this, and if they would say to steer clear of this company???

Thanks a lot.

    Phoneboxdirect cashbacks are variable.
  • PBD are my one and only recommendation - and I speak as a 2 year / 18 cashbacks received on time veteran!

They won't allow porting to Vodafone - say they don't "support" it, whatever that means.

I was told today that if I take a Vodafone contract and subsequently port my number I would lose the cashback entitlement. A pain, as they have some fantastic Vodafone deals on at the moment.
  • Hmmm, dunno whether this is a bad omen or not. But I originally ordered a phone from them last Tuesday, and still haven't heard/received anything. I phoned up on Friday, got told to phone a different number, and they told me that the credit card details didn't match that of my credit card account, so they needed to verify them. Did that, and was told if it all went through correctly, I would receive the phone on Tuesday (as the warehouse people won't be back in work until Monday).

Well, today came, and it didn't come with Royal Mail. So I'm wondering whether it will be sent via a courier, whether they haven't sent the item yet, so will come tomorrow (as on the website it says for orders received on Friday, it will be delivered Tues/Weds).

What have peoples experiences of the delivery been? And have people had problems like this from them?

    Cheers,

    David
  • hmmm, ok...

So I haven't received anything, so I think that I will finally call them up to find out what's been happening...

So I phone phonebox direct, who tell me that it's a credit problem, so I need to call another number. This number they give me is to Dextra Solutions. There I am sat on hold for 15 mins or so, and finally someone answers.

I ask what the problem is, they tell me that it's because I have a "foreign card". Apparantly, Asda and other storecards are from foreign banks, and so they can't do the credit check because can't check on the address. The only other card I have with me is an old Barclaycard, but not sure if it was working as at the time I moved last year it got a crack on it, and asked them to send replacement, but never phoned to say I'd received it... So try that, and apparantly it's all registered at the old address.

So I complain asking why no-one contacted me (considering I order it last Tuesday evening). Couldn't give me an answer. And apparantly there's nothing I can do at the minute until I get my new card sorted.

Is a right pain in the backside, and is making me wonder whether it's worth me even taking the contract out with them. Surely they should at least offer some sort of compensation for not evening contacting me to let me know! I have had to phone them twice now, with no resolution!

Dunno what the best thing for me to do is now...
