Hot water problem - am I being dumb?

  • Hi.

OP I think you need to get someone in to find their way around your system and see what (if any) controls you have hidden away, or to find out why there is no circulation around the cylinder.

    GSR.

Well I know what my money is on.

Position of pump looks weird but a gravity DHW and pumped CH configuration might account for it. If the system is supposed to be fully pumped then it doesn't look right at all but I accept that schematic doesn't always = how it actually is. Is your water tank in the roof warm or worse hot?

    Cheers

Pump position (on return by the boiler) would be perfectly normal for an older pumped C/H system / Gravity DHW and I agree about the probability of a blockage in the position you indicate. I'm still not happy about the diagram though. The boiler appears to be piped against convention . The cold feed should be piped into a bottom connection on the boiler unless its a combined feed /vent, which this doesn't appear to be.

I'd still like the questions I asked earlier to be answered before making a further diagnosis.

OP's concern about this appears to have evaporated.
