I have purchased the Google Galaxy Nexus from expansys, the upgrade from iphone 4 which is passed on in the family.

I watch some on demand programs on the phone like BBC iPlayer, Sky Go, ITV player, 40D etc.

Due to the larger screen I thought the Galaxy Nexus would be the best buy only to find out a a few players are not available at all or the vide is very slow at low quality. The iplayer app is not much use.

Its not the internet as the same program on the iplayer work fine on iphone 4.

Am I doing somthing wrong or are 3rd apps avaible?

If not thank good expansys offer 14 day refund, nice phone and the screeen but whats the point.

  • A lot of on demand stuff can be watched via your phone browser, just like watching it on your pc or laptop browser.
I think only the skygo app (itv player app maybe?) doesnt work on the nexus yet because ics is not supported.

Like the poster above mentioned you might be better off going to the website instead of using an app.

One thing to note is that your phone is at the cutting edge of android system. So most apps probably haven't been optimised yet, it will get better and due to you having a pure google/android phone you will definately get all the latest updates before everyone else - things will get much better!
  • It seem no update or app is available to use on demand apps.
Unless I find an answer by Monday the phone is going back for refund.

I find the odd way to release the os update. Once you have updated to the new version you will need to wait months for some of the apps to work again. This may have been OK in 90's but come on not today. The google should release the SDK to the manufactures a few months before so when the OS is released everyone is ready for it.

I can see what goodman is saying, maybe some time going over the top with Android devices. Some comments are wrong and many correct.
It seem the Android is fine for cheap phones sub £100 but not for someone paying around £400-£500. The nice screen and faster CPU is not much use if you can't use.

I am not pro-apple and like to change phones every 18-24 months.
