This means at some point in the last 13 months, in this case, Capital One feel that you have been a VICTIM of impersonation. Now this could be due to a third party using your details to (try to) obtain credit. Or, it is an application that you have made yourself and there is an error on there and at this point Capital One have been unable to verify if it was you who made the application for fear of tipping off the fraudster, eg- If they attempted to contact the applicant (in this case you) as they were unsure if it was genuine or not they may inadvertently contact the fraudster who would just say "yes it was me" and hey presto they have a card in your name. This is a case of better be safe than be sorry by Capital One.
If this is a genuine application made by you then they will remove the Cat 2. I would check with your bank to make sure that no DD's have been set up that you don't know about (especially mobile phones and pay day loan companies) as these can be quick wins for fraudsters.
I speak from experience as I used to do something similar for another financial provider.
It will of been himDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -

Just an update, got a call from CAP1 today saying that they were wary of the application made in January and they tried to get in contact with me but no luck so that was why the CIFAS marker was added. Anyway they will begin the process of removing it.
Also for those who have made negative comments aimed at me. Get a grip. How old are you? Grow up and act your ages instead of trolling on the internet all day and acting like muppets. And for your attention. yes i did received 60k from my brother and is currently in my HSBC account. GOOD DAY0 -

It is you that needs to grow up, when you post contradictory and obvious unbelievable things about yourself on an internet forum where experienced people who are knowledgeable about finance post it is easy for people to see that you either just a troll or someone that lives in a fantasy world, unfortunately because you are only eighteen anyone looking at your past posts can see just what a silly little boy you are and very few people are prepared to take you seriously.0 -
