Okay - I'm a complete novice to cashback deals although I have read about them for ages on these threads and I think it si about time I saved some money by not paying my monthly phene bill!
I have been out of contract with Vodafone for four months now. I currently have 125 mins and 250 texts and pay £20 per month although I exceed that most months and pay around £30/32. OH not too happy about this!
I've been reading through the threads this morning as Vodafone won't increase my minutes and for the fourth time of asking I should hopefully get my PAC code throught the post this week. They said I could call an 0870 number to receive it there and then but I said I don't do 0870 numbers!
I'd like the Nokia 5300 or 7373. I prefer Nokia phones.
I want around 250/300 mins and 100 texts. I talk more than text:p .
I know to go through Quidco.
I've looked at CPW and Phones4u.
They have cashback cheque deals but I haven't seen any automatic cashback deals. I am quite organised though and would remember to send my bill in BUT I am away in the summer for several weeks and it would be just my luck to miss a bill to be sent in during that time. Hence I would prefer automatic cashback.
O2 400mins/250 texts at £35 pm seems to be the main deal most of the companies are offering, either with cashback of 8 months free rental etc. That deal would suit me fine.
I am presuming I can port my number to any of these deals??
If anyone can give me any other tips i.e. where to find automatic cashback, who to be wary of I would be grateful. Thanks.
Also biggest problem to overcome is convincing OH that there isn't a catch!

There's a deal on phoneboxdirect that meets your criteria http://www.phoneboxdirect.com/handsetdetail.asp
From personal experiance I've had 12 month free contracts with onestopphoneshop, mobile outlet and have recently taken one with phoneboxdirect.
onestopphoneshop - received all cashback promptly without a fuss.
mobile outlet - to date I've recieved half of my cashback (10 days late) and I'm currently waiting for my final installment, I've been waiting 21 days out of the 28 stated on their terms and conditions.
There isn't a catch as such, just as long as you read the T&C regarding cashback claims until you understand the procedure for claiming cashback, whether it be for example 'send in your 4th bill' or 'send in the bill which shows connection after 120 days'. If you're still unsure, post a message on here, someone will help clear up any confusion. :beer:0 -
I have a query regard the 'send in the bill which shows connection after 120 days':
Say for example, I joined a company on the 23rd Feb on vodafone, do vodafone send a bill out straight away (like what 3 did)? And then, would I need to send the bill dated say 24th June (which would be the 4th bill) or the bill dated 24th July? I know this is difficult to explain, but please try
Also, I had a contract on cashback before, and the company ceased trading... Is this likely to happen with a company such as phonebox direct? If they did cease trading, what would be likely to happen?
Thanks guys0 -

If your first bill shows that your contract started on 23 February then you would need to send the first bill that you receive which is dated on or after 22 June, as 22 June is 119 days after 23 February (showing 120 days connection including the date of connection).
More specifically, if your first bill is issued in February, then it will be your bill dated sometime in June that you send. If your first bill is issued in March (but before 22 March) then it will be your bill dated sometime in July that is required.

If they ceased trading, liquidators would usually be called in to assess what assets are left, how much is owed to creditors and salvage as much as possible to pay off the creditors. Customers awaiting cashback will be treated as creditors like anyone else but they will only be paid from proceeds remaining after the banks have been paid off and the liquidators have taken their fee.
When this has happened in the past, the payouts have varied from next to nothing up to around 35 pence in the pound. It all depends on whether the company has been sensible in their judgement of their financial predicament and taken steps early on to wind up the company rather than blindly continue to operate in the mistaken belief that they can trade their way out of their financial black hole. In many cases, doing the latter more often than not simply worsens the company's financial position and reduces the eventual payout to creditros and customers alike.
