My 4 Litre lexus does 14mpg when i do local runs
I have been w/o a car of my own for the last 2 years plus, as I decided not to replace it after it was written off. Unsurprisingly, the savings were instant, and whilst I've seriously considered replacing it, the sums just don't add up and cabs would be cheaper. In practice if I can't walk I'll take TfL.
Occasionally I borrow family members cars for a couple of weeks at a time, on those months my cc bill goes up hugely with filling a tank at £60 a pop, and most of the time they just sit on the driveway. I'd love to replace my car, but it's too big a luxury in this day and age. The only good argument for buying one would be to take advantage of my 10 years plus NCB, which my insurance company has said they will honour.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I might look into it again but when we asked last year no-one asked about her health and we didnt say, so maybe if I try again. Will see if I can find anything on the Council website. Those journeys would definitely help.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

Worth a try. I would ring them. It is a bit harsh as the criteria is 3 miles. Perhaps a letter from the doctor sent with the application might help?0 -

I work for a transport company transfering SEN (Special Educational Needs) children from home to school in a fleet of minibuses. SEN covers a wide spectum of children not just those with mobility needs but also medical condition. Some but not all have to be statemented by the council others who claim DLA for their children can also qualify. I know each council is different but I would ask the council about SEN school transport it can take a long time and a bit of a fight in some cases but it is worth it in the end. Good luck.0 -
My 2007 1.8 auto Astra does mid to late 20s if only driven on 2 mile trips. It costs about £50 a month and we do about 220/230 miles a month.0

Yes it is, but this has been the average since we got the car 2 years ago in May and it has had a service in that time.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
