They are only glorified lay-bys when all is said and done.

Plus you get better food in the lay-bys!:p

I never ever paid but have you seen what they try to charge HGV's mind you with the fee you got a dried up meal if you so wished!

If you don't pay for a HGV CP Plus say you will be fined £250? So says this paragraph from a transport mag!

"Parking Charges: The first 2 hours free. Site is now managed by CP-Plus. This is a camera operating system which takes a photo of your vehicle on the way in to the services and then again on the way out. if you haven't paid for parking and have stayed for longer than 2 hours, you will be sent a fine through the post. HGV fine = £250 Car fine - £80 HGV: Parking with Food £20 Parking Without Food £18"

i have just been sent one of these tickets through the post for overstaying my 2 hour limit.
i bought a ticket allowing me to camp for the night. Thankfully i kept my reciept and have it here now.
I was sarcastic on the phone and asked the guy if he sleeps well at night. He replied by calling me a f***ing pratt. According to the company i still owe them £50, soon to go up to £80
I have also sent them a rude email with 3 attached photos of my reciept.
My theory is that they removed my payment from their system and hoped that i lost my reciept.
    Any advice on next steps?

shame you didnt record the conversation,
. He replied by calling me a f***ing pratt
very proffesional reaction there, in whos car park did you park in? ( ie retailer/service area etc) i wonder how well they take complaints that one of thier agents ( for whos actions they are responsable for) has been agressive and verbaly abused someone?

it was in a service station. I slept in my van. I bought my ticket from costa. They said it was fine to sleep over. (about 2am - 10am) they charged me £10 to do so. After recieving the ticket in the post i was a bit annoyed. I phoned up them up explaining that i had the reciept in my hand. He said that there was no record of payment. Again i said that i had the reciept in my hand, even telling him the cashier's name. He didn't believe me. I said this was total bull..*pause*...poo and asked him is he slept well at night. He then called me a sarcastic f***ing pratt. I said "right back at you buddy".
I wish i recorded that phonecall, but no-doubt he deleted it straight away. What a delightful company.

Probably the cashier didn't type the correct number plate into the machine or something. Or CP Plus's cameras are not hooked upto those machines

pfff i very much doubt that. Try this on with 1 out of every 10 cars and see who actually bothers to keep a crappy little reciept after 10 days to prove their innocence. Sounds more likely to me. Imagine how much more lovely money that greedy company makes fom this scam.

By the way, the 'ignore' advice only really applies to the PPC and the associated debt collectors etc.

Feel free to send a stiff letter to the CEO of the Service Station company about the abuse you received from one of his/her 3rd party contractors, who they are legally responsible for.
