I am a terrible compost maker. I do stack a nice muck heap for manure though. We stacked up the heap last weekend, and it's already dropped by over a foot, so there has been some serious 'composting' going on in our midden. We'll stack up again tomorrow.

I need a pump to submerge in the old slurry, and a filter better than the blue barrel wrapped in a sheet that I was using. Any ideas? I need to get some water out to get at more rotted manure soon!

I thinking about having a mid life crisis. I really want to move and know where I'd be headed. As you can see from my siggy we still have some debt to pay off and then there's the massive hill to climb of a deposit and saddled with a mortgage. Trouble is I want it now.

I'm never off the estate agents website and searching for jobs. How can I stop this itch and be grateful for what I've got?

I don't think you can, but you can realistically look at the budgets of the places you are looking at would leave you with.

Legally I can kill the aphids.

I am afraid they are going to be victims of my intense rage.

Tonight I am feeling really 'urgh'. Dh is fine with the heating saga fight, but I feel exhausted because its gone on so long. My energy levels have been really low, and I have the background stress about health.

I just want something to be easy, you know?:o. Just something!

Well I've had a gloriously successful day's bonfiring in the bottom field and about 75% of the stuff I'd still to burn is gone.....:D

....Which just leaves the other 25%:(, all of it closer to the other fire site, so I shall have to drag it that way and wait for a different wind.

It would all be much simpler with a tractor & trailer, but at least I stay fit, and with the state of the ground, a tractor wouldn't be an option yet.

Rummer, I have only planted onions, toms and peppers so far, plus a few courgettes, which I'll try to get an early crop from in the polytunnel. I will probably do some salad leaves tomorrow. The old ones from the autumn are still going strong though. :)

Got to admit that I let the good guys get the aphids, amazing seeing the hoverfly larvae hoover them up.

Lucielle, debt is debilitating and taking on more might turn a dream into a nightmare. It's probably no comfort at all to suggest that, while you build up a cash pot, you take pleasure from intensive gardening of a smaller space?
  • luceille, is the dry sun-ish days that have given you itchy feet?

looking cost nothing..... except.... frustration, angar, depression, and jealousy:rotfl:

Davesnave.. surely if you requested for the pole to be removed from YOUR land, as you didnt give any permission for it, then they will have to do it at their own expense...?????

Also can you request who authorised the pole to be placed there? as surely forms had to be filled in AND signed.

Hubby bought meat from the butchers today, so been doing loads of cooking..

    rice pudding

    Beef casserole,

    Beef and any veg curry,
