Brr! Chilly one here today, although gorgeously bright, so i even went to the top of the field to admire the sea
Just seen this on FB
Just passing this on - FOR ANYONE INTERESTED!
dont know if anyone can collect from scotland but here it is
52 Thorougbred horses need homes. Will go to slaughter this sat. Gentleman died & his son wants nothing to do with the horses. Most broodmares , broken in & some in foaling/we aning, 2-3 yrs old, most geldings- free- Contact Chett Wallace 07842 748538 . Please re-post if you know horsey peeps"
Don't know if it's a hoax...
Thanks for the advice on the chicks, Dave. I feel a bit more confident taking on secondhand pens now. The new ones are so expensive.
Had a friend round today who's Green Deal assessor trained. Interesting chat. I am moving towards extreme on the survivalist scale. I always had it in meI've been thinking about stocking up but I think we'll wait til after Christmas now and do a run to Costco before we return to Wales. We start off with a huge store from these kinds of shops but it runs down as the weeks go by between each trip to England as there's nowhere to bulk buy near here. I guess I could stock up at Aldi... I've been thinking of joining Suma and doing a bulk buy from them. We go through kilos of carbs weekly here.... Five of us, all fairly big eaters, even the two year olds!
Once we're in the house and we have space, I anticipate I'll be in full apocalypse mode and there will be tins and cans and large tubs of stuff all over the place.... :rotfl:0 -
Rozee....probably not a hoax. Tbs are treated almost as disposable unless they are successful, when they are cash cows.
I am always amazed if people pay more than a monkey for a broken tb because you can get 'em for free often enough. Geldings in particular are, 'bluntly' worthless financially often enough, or less than if they have issues.......
Not sure what meat price is ATM....maybe £150 ish.0 -
How miserable0

OK I have a dilemma. Advice/help please?
We currently have one lonely ex-batt chicken. She's going to get darn cold by herself in the hen house (which can hold 3 or 4 comfortably) and I have an offer of two more chickens. However, as you all know, the house is going on the market shortly and once we've sold it we'll be renting for a couple of months until we find our new home. I may not be able to keep chickens at a rented property.
I don't want to get rid of our chicken, I'm happy to have a couple of new ones to keep her company and warm and we will want chickens as soon as we get our new house. But does anyone have any suggestions for "boarding" for chickens, like you can with cats and dogs? They would have their own house and run. Our next-door-but-one neighbour has chickens so I can ask her if she'd be able to board them for us, but I'd like to know if anyone else has any good ideas.
