    I've been Money Tipped!
I thought they went off lay when crop issues, which confused things a bit. My little troopers are still laying.

Sometimes I've dried eggshells & then crushed them up & mixed it with their feed. It's supposed to be good for them & would maybe give them some grit...?

I guess that depends on how long there's a problem for? The eggs are queueing up (in different stages) to get out, don't forget. Uncomfortable thought.
They get lethargic & can sometimes seem like their straining their necks in odd ways (which is why I asked if they were doing strange things with their head).

If you say they've always had large crops, the worry now is just that the crop is hard where before it was not, right?

Yeah, thats right. Poor little things.

I think they will be ok without food you know. They are very perky now, and cheeky.

    Good. :j
Just keep an eye that they don't gorge themselves when you reintroduce food or you could end up having to keep repeating the process.
Choille's right about egg shells. We always stuck to giving shells from boiled eggs, other people I know used to put raw egg shells (as in you've cracked an egg open to use) in the Aga warming oven before using them.
I'm more bemused by their refusal to take any grit. Maybe if they get out & about more they'll get grit whilst pecking around.
People sometimes gave horse ACV to their hens every now & then but it wasn't something we kept. Do you use it?

I like the Boots box, alfie. What was it for, do you think? Just for transporting stuff or as some sort of display item?

I nearly missed that Boots box.:o

We had a Boots close to our house when I lived near here as a kid. If I remember rightly, the supplies of medicines etc used to come on a lorry, packed in boxes like that. I'm sure I saw literally dozens of them.

    Well done, alfie!
