Take care IME; consider going to the GP in the morning? Or at least the nurse as you need that out.

Thanks RAS. If it's up or looking/feeling nasty in the morning I'll go.

The worst thing is it makes me itch all over so I'm forever contorting myself to see if it's another tick or just my skin crawling :rotfl:

Have you made OH check that having brushed himself down, he is not harbouring visitors?

Someone needs to iron out all the creases before we can really tell ;) but, yes, I got rid of one on his arm.

I was going to say I haven't had a very good day today, but compared with some of you lot, it's been a doddle here!

So sorry Mum & Dad were let down today Alfie, and you too of course, but you'll have a clearer perspective than they will. ;) ....And you have that holiday to look forward to at the weekend.:):) I love the IOW!

Ticks, Itsme! :eek:Whatever next? :eek:Horrible things at the best of times, but doubly horrible when you're feeling under par. I'll look out the tick removers tonight, and keep checking the moggies.

Eventually got all the wood into the shade and stored correctly. Having wood dry out too fast isn't something we've had to worry about for a long time!

Bloody sheep have jumped the fences again. Pete will have to advise and assist if he wants to grow hay here.....or go back to keeping more compliant breeds. They are off to be shorn in 48 hours, so perhaps he can replace with some tamer ones.

Ticks, I hate them  Hope your wrist is ok Itsme. And saw the first of the tabanidae today, the large black one that flies low to the round in short circling flights before relighting :(. Did I mention I hate horseflies more than ticks?

After the hols debacle last week, and with back easing a bit, its off to the seaside for lunch and an ice cream on the pier :D

Another indulgence will be to get some garden help for a week or two to stop the weeds taking over :o

    Enjoy thr weather peeps

ItsMe do watch out for any rash following your tick visitors - Lyme disease is more common in UK than is recognised by doctors!

First sight of the scapes on our garlic yesterday! So scape pesto for tea tonight maybe! :j

Planning on going to the allotment for a day of digging today... But given how the rest of the week has turned out something else will turn up that MUST be done. Tomorrow OH is helping with DD2's move into our old home, so won't get much done. Sunday DD1 and GS3 are arriving at 4pm so all will be chaos for the following week! Perhaps we'll trundle littley round to lottie for a couple of hours one day.

Oh Alfie, what a mess up over your Dad. Fingers crossed it all goes ahead today without any more problems.

Thanks all for the thoughts about the ticks.

I smothered the area in Zam Buk & bandaged it (plasters bring me up). It doesn't seem too bad this morning. Just a little swollen around the immediate area. I'll just keep a watchful eye.
In fact, for me, having dug a sizeable hole in my skin in the vain attempt to get every last little bit out, the swelling/redness is looking no worse than I'd expect on a 'normal' person's skin so maybe the weeks of high dose anti-histamines for the urticaria have helped.

Horseflies are grim, rhiw. Luckily we only rarely see them here.

Alfie - It's called Inevitable. A few hot days always end with a bang. Hope it soon passes over & you can enjoy the sunshine on the island.

Hope things go as planned for both alfie & maggie.

:( Dave. The problem with sheep is once they've found you they'll keep coming back until they're moved away altogether unless you can find a way to completely keep them out.

That was a nice treat :)

An hour looking round an antiques centre before lunch and a pint of Vale of Glamorgan beer in the cloudyish sun at the Fig Tree in Penarth, looking out over the Bristol Channel towards England, with Flat Holm and Steep Holm nearby and a few yachts coping with the sea breezes. Then the promised ice cream on the pier and checked out the plaque that the kids had arranged last year for a notable anniversary of ours .... just slightly odd as most plaques are in memory of dearly departed ;)

Need to get back to work now :(
