Ryanair and trying to avoid fees for paying

I have never booked a flight with Ryanair and I'm getting to the stage where I think I never will

I want to book a one way flight from Paris to Manchester for 5 people, I've already booked the outbound flight with another airline. Ryanair's fare is great but they are going to charge me 30 Euro for paying for the flights. I now know from reading on here that this is just a nasty way to scam customers in to thinking they are great so I want to try and avoid it. I had read on another thread on here that paying on a pre-paid mastercard means you avoid the charge (as long as the flight originates from a non-UK/Italy destination) so I set up a Neteller Mastercard account.

When I try and pay it shows that there is no administration charge when I choose to pay by pre-paid mastercard but then it won't process the payment and keeps saying that my address might not match/I might have selected the incorrect card type/might have typed it in wrong. I haven't done any of these things and have checked that I typed my address in correctly with Neteller.

Any ideas on how I can get it to work??

I think I hate Ryanair now, if they had just been upfront with the charges I probably would have paid the amount with the charges but now I'm cross with them and don't want to pay it. :(

What currency is your prepaid card in?

It has to be a euro denominated prepaid Mastercard to get around the Ryanair card/admin charge. Booked a couple of weeks ago using this means and had no problems.
  • Just do not use Ryan Air, avoid them and maybe they will change their habits.

My prepaid mastercard is in Euros, going to give it another try tonight then think I'll give up. Just wish any of the other airlines came close to their cost so I could avoid them altogether.

    No it doesn't.
My Travelex Cash Passport Globe card is a GBP card and I don't get charged any fees for OWs from Europe. They do try to do a DCC but I always decline it

    It still won't work :(

Do you select UK as your country of residence budgetflyer?

    One other thing.
With my Escape PP Master Card. When I put the name in I have to put "ESCAPE CASH CARD" as written on the card, as opposed to my name it is registered to.

Yes. and try details as above.

If it doesn't work, get an Escape card from Phones4u tommorrow

Or better still get a Travelex Cash Passport Globe card . Go through Quidco for 0.5%cashback.
Takes 2 days to arrive but is worth the wait as balance remains in GBP untill point of sale + then converts to what ever currency you like at Mastercard rate minus 1.49%.

How do you split it across the name boxes? The virtual Neteller prepaid mastercard shows my name on the front but it'd be worth a go putting Neteller as the first name and then maybe cash card as the surname?

Possibly the problem is because its a "virtual card"

    From Netellers site

    http://www.neteller.com/netplusvirtualcard/#a-howtouse
Please note: while your Net+ virtual card is ideal for making many online purchases, it will not work for situations where you will be required to show a physical card at a later date, such as picking up an airplane ticket, renting a car or booking a hotel room. For these types of purchases, you’ll want to use a plastic Net+ prepaid card.

Thank you budgetflyer. I didn't think it would make a difference having the virtual card as I didn't think I'd need to show it at the airport, maybe Ryanair can tell it's a virtual card so blocks it.

Can't make it to Phones4u as I'm on long shifts so think I'll have to stop being a miser and just stump up the 30 Euro, worrying that I'll end up missing the cheap fare if I keep stressing about the extra charge.
