I think for the 77p (need to check that price but I think thats right for what you're posting) the Royal Mail signed for extra is probably worth the extra money... I've sold probably 100+ items on eBay over the years and being able to track the delivery has saved me a from being scammed on a couple of accasions - I even once had someone open an 'Item not received' claim against me on eBay within 30 minutes of the auction finishing!
I have been posting as large letter second class mainly do you think it would then make much difference if i paid for first class large letter?0 -
So your items are over the allowance but are still getting posted any way without charge? How do you do this?I buy the stamps and put them on myself and post it. Do you do it at the cashier?
By post office stamps i mean the large labels the post office apply themselves. In other words - if the post office makes an error and undercharges - the customer does not pay for it.
If you put your own stamps on though - they make you pay if its under-priced (or the person who received it does)
My PO lets you off if its close - most will make you pay the higher rate - which is the correct way.But not bought from Ebay, as they are massively overpriced. You can get them for 1/2 that price at Staples -

Nice spot. I use an home-made wooden one that i bought off ebay. The market was flooded with them, when the large letter rate first came out. Looks good though, with writing 'engraved' on it. It does the job.0 -

Ok thanks very much I understand now. I think ive been scared of doing it that way incase they charge me a lot more.0 -
Do you think they will charge me the same price as a large letter then for the nail varnish? its pretty much bang on 25mm or just a couple over.0

Nail varnish is on the Royal Mail Prohibited Goods list.
Maybe RM confiscated them.

If it doesn't go through the gauge then they will charge you for a packet. If you continue to send it stamped with a large letter and it is too large then more of your buyers will have to pay extra to get their goods and you may well start getting poor feedback and stars.
Unfortunately some things are not economical to sell and very light object that are also quite cheap normally but which have to go as a packet are possibly one such line. Before pricing in proportion I sold various dance wear items, but once PIP came in my very ligh titems such a girls ballet tights etc had to go as a packet and they suddenly looked very expensive. I eventually gave up that whole line.
Even though your postage costs can be written off against your profits for tax purposes it might still not make economic sense to sell certain goods.
Can I suggest that before you list any more that you wrap a sample item of each line properly, not just in a normal envelope. Take them all down to the post office and ask if you can try them through the gauge.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes I am sending them in ordinary envelopes with 2nd class or 1st class large letter stamps. How do you get the post office stamp? That is unlikely it is well packed and closed. I think that I have not payed enough postage on it just

seen many many lipsticks/nail varnishes splitting out of envelopes
also seen many charged due to underpayment0 -

Not all people pay the same rate for postage. If the seller is a business they may have a business account where postage is cheaper. They may use their office franking machine.....but what matters is that you should not send it via Royal Mail unless you use the business tracked service, as it is prohibited.0 -

Normal ones which I have sello taped shut and wrapped it in a bit of bubble wrap. A lot of people havent left me freedback so I am assuming they havent got it because I have probably underpaid postage.0
