Ok thanks everyone for your replies. I should have went to the post office to confirm i was paying for correct postage. I am just going to have to refund everyone the correct amount and somehow cut my losses and update postage on my items get rid of them and start again clean.
Thanks0 -
You said the items were about 5mm, and the envelope 'barely' 1mm. But the letter rate is 5mm.
You need one of these :-

Also - if you put your own stamps on - and the item is over-sized - royal mail pull them out and charge. My post office assures me, that if they have a post office stamp on - they don't. Handy, cos mine keeps saying its ok - its barely over so i will charge the lower rate. Kind of them - but i was worried in case it backfired and the buyer got a charge. Its never happened yet though.0 -

So your items are over the allowance but are still getting posted any way without charge? How do you do this?I buy the stamps and put them on myself and post it. Do you do it at the cashier?0 -

That maybe so, but the PO stamps have the PO code printed on them, and this is then recorded and if to many under paid items get through, the branch will get a warning (or maybe worse).
75p 1st class large letter
58p 2nd class large letter0 -
You're not sending them in an ordinary envelope are you?0

Yes I am sending them in ordinary envelopes with 2nd class or 1st class large letter stamps. How do you get the post office stamp?0
-
That could be your problem, maybe the envelope's splitting & the contents coming out.0

But not bought from Ebay, as they are massively overpriced. You can get them for 1/2 that price at Staples -

I think for the 77p (need to check that price but I think thats right for what you're posting) the Royal Mail signed for extra is probably worth the extra money... I've sold probably 100+ items on eBay over the years and being able to track the delivery has saved me a from being scammed on a couple of accasions - I even once had someone open an 'Item not received' claim against me on eBay within 30 minutes of the auction finishing!0
