Sellers cannot have private feedback. All they can do is set the auctions so that the item sold doesn't show, the feedback comments are still there though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sorry Soolin, yes your correct, it was the item that l couldn't view, which still for me makes me move on.

I check my buyer's feedback, and get very suspicious when their feedback is private. I don't sell anything which would require the buyer to remain anonymous, so would be wary.
Private feeback is the ideal way for a scammer to operate as sellers can't leave anything other than positive feedback. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

I don't see why buyers should have to declare their history to sellers.
It is also against the rules for a seller to leave non-positive feedback even under a green dot, so a buyer who has been an unfortunate victim of a seller who doesn't play by the rules may be hiding something but you don't know the full story. As it stands, most of the transaction is the seller's responsibility and there are tools to deal with non-paying bidders. So if the buyer is hiding, say, the fact their item never arrived and the seller left FB to 'warn' others about them, or the fact that their item was covered in pet hair, they complained and the seller left a vindictive comment back to 'warn' others that the buyer was fussy about what they bought, then they might have legitimate reason to make their FB private.
One of my accounts has private FB to hide a neg that was left by a wrecker and never removed by eBay. I use it mostly to post on a US message board but don't want them thinking the wrecker was right. As I know I didn't do anything wrong, it's my choice to hide the feedback to spare my blushes and retain some dignity in proceedings.
As long as I pay on an auction, I don't see why my past transaction history should affect sellers' dealings with me. I don't carry references from other retailers when I go down to the local shop for a Pot Noodle or eat at the university canteen, so I don't feel I should have to have them on eBay either."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Exactly my point, you use private feedback to hide something.
If a buyer is frequently buying something they don't want others to see, that's fair enough, but as I don't sell anything like that I am suspicious when their feedback is private.
I have been asked in the past not to leave feedback as they don't want anyone to see what they have bought or paid for it and that's fine (even though someone could find the information from Goofbay)You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
