Lidl fruit trees.

Has anyone bought the Victoria Plum? Hoping I haven't bought a dud. The morello cherry has buds but nothing on the plum.0

I think they would probably grow too big Gina. Unless somebody else knows better?
Not necessarily. The problem with these fruit trees is that you don't know what root stock they are grafted onto so you have no idea how big they will get.
I bought 8 from Aldi last year and they went into large bucket sized pots; some fruited and all looked healthy still so 1 plum, 2 cherries and 2 apples will be grown in the garden now [the cherries and apples as espaliers and the plum just kept to size by pruning carefully] in the ground and the rest left in pots.
I didn't get any Lidl ones this time round as reports came back that they were just sticked, I'll wait and get more from Aldi when the time comes. Morrisons also have had them this week if anyone is still interested. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
I went for the Stella, and it's gone in the ground today. Good healthy looking rootball on it, too.
From what I can tell, the Morello tends to have a more horizontal, open style, while the Stella tends to be narrower and grow more vertically. The latter suits small spaces better.
Again, this depends on the rootstock and the pruning. Prune it to how you want it.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Thanks sheep-ali, hope mine does as well as yours
