Obviously this is just my opinion, but in the interest of balance I must say that I have been to Golden Coast and Woolacombe Bay and found them the worst sites I have ever stayed in.

I have stayed in many, many sites, both in the UK and abroad, in caravans and tents, so coming bottom is quite something :rotfl:

    Dirty like you wouldn't believe.......

Forgot to say, if you are after the Woolacombe area, Parkdean Ruda at Croyde (a mile or so from Woolacombe and just off the beach) is at the other end of the scale, quality wise.

I have stayed there several times and never had a problem.

    Here's my two-penneth!

We have stayed at Woolacombe Bay park for the last 6 years, we tend to go late August / early September and have to say it is one of the best parks we have ever stayed at. We don't camp though, just stay in the static caravans. We do have a dog so perhaps our expectations are slightly lower as they wouldn't put dog owners into the best accommodation.

We have been round all of the parks & you can use the facilities at all of them. The camping facilities are first class, we used to have a touring caravan so know all about camp sites!

The Woolacombe Bay site itself is really nice, especially the camping part, it has it's own block with private toilet / showers. It has full washing facilities for both clothes & pots / pans etc. It also has a sauna for the use of the campers :j

There are electric hook-ups, even for tents and the pitches are well spaced out so you are not on top of each other. The camp site is away from the main accommodation part but it is quiet and is only a short walk from the main reception / swimming pool etc.

I would highly recommend the Woolacombe Bay sites, they are very friendly & Woolacombe itself is great.

In most cases like this for every unhappy visitor there will be dozens of happy ones :)

In my case, Haven have a lot to answer for - charging a fortune for their holidays yet don't even bother to clean the van  But that's another story.
    :)
  • If you're camping, I'd definitely recommend Damage Barton- it's a camping and caravanning club site but they take non members (I think!). It really is lovely, and calm, and peaceful, and friendly, and now I want to go back!
