Woolacombe bay holiday parks

Been looking at this holiday group they have 4 parks in devon, just wondering which park is best for camping. We are looking to go for 7 nights in August with our own tent there will be 2 adults and 2 boys aged 7 and 10.
Also if you are on 1 site can you use the others for free.

Does anyone know if they do offers as it stated when booking promo code but can't seem to find 1.

Thanks for any help and advise

  • Hi there,

I stayed here a few years ago when my kids were younger through a sun break. The sites are lovely and yes you can use all of them, there is a dedicated camp site for tents but I cannot recall the name, not sure if you can camp on the other 3. The camp site for tents doesnt have many activities though. Woolacombe itself is lovely though and there is a castle / theme park nr Ilfracombe, may be a bit young for your eldest though

Give them a call I am sure they will be helpful.
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

  • I have been to golden coast many times, and there where tents.I think this is the biggest park.

Woolacombe Bay are great parks. The one I would recommend is Twitchen House. We have been down there every Easter now for the last 5 years camping and never had a bad experience with them. Golden Coast is very busy and the main camping area is in the middle of the car park, so wouldnt recommend that one. Woolacombe Bay is good, but the camping is quite far from the main areas.

If you stay there and want to go to the beach, they have a bus that runs (depending on the time of year) hourly/half hourly. It cost about £4 each for the week and that is as many times as you want. They are really, really old buses and I often wonder if they will get back up the hills, but they manage it every year! These are great because you can catch it between the parks as well as to the beach, so you dont need to use your car!

You can also use all the facilities on each of the parks if you want, we used the tennis court on Golden Coast, my son did a football training course there too. We also use the ceramic cafe which is quite reasonably priced.

I cant comment on Easewell Farm is we have never stopped on that one, but it does look nice. Especially good if you like golf.

Hope this helps. Sorry I dont have a discount code, but they do have 20% off at the moment??

Big thanks for this it has given us a bit more of a insite to the parks
  • Hi,

We have stayed in three out of four of these parks. We havent camped here but stayed in a statcic caraan.
We haven't been for a couple of years, although they aRe always sending us special offers etc. i think we'll go back next year for a weekend probably through the sun deals.
Twitchen is my favourite although golden coast has a very nice pub on site. You can use the parks interchangably though, and wollocombe is closest to the beach.
Havent been to the smaller one,- is it eveswell?
They always have special offers though, so take a look at their website.

    I've been & I regret I didn't read the reviews before going.

Appaling place, disgusting caravan. Great if you like rowdy teens hanging outside every doorway smoking, greasy chips & bingo.

    Stay clear of you don't.

    Love the area but.......
  • It does vary a lot between caravans, chalets and sites. We usually stay at Golden Coast, and think that is the best of the sites, although we don't camp. Its worth having a look at the site map to see where you'd be, they let you pick where you want.

Its worth registering your details with the website as they are always doing different offers, and sometimes they have some very good "time limited" ones.

We have just booked to go to Twitchen again at Easter.

I cant comment on the caravans/chalets etc as we always camp, but we have never had any problems.

I agree that the food isnt Michelin Star quality, but you dont have to eat in the on site restaurants, in fact in the 5 or 6 years we have been going there, I dont think we have eaten in there once!

The pub on the Golden Coast is nice, but it does get very, very busy.

The entertainment is typical Haven/Butlins type thing, but not so 'big'. There are also kids clubs and loads of activities.

We stayed at Woolacombe Bay and had the most marvellous time! We had a bronze van which was lovely with heating in the bedrooms. The entertainment was ace. OUr kids, aged 2 and 3 then, loved every minute, especially the big yellow bus.

The pool at the Golden Coast was lovely, the one at Woolacombe bay was nice, but the changing rooms were yucky. Cold showers, smelly (weewee) and our children had a fascination with going to the toilet every 5 minutes so I had to keep ushering them in there (freezing to death) and then ushering them back quickly as possible, and jumping into the pool!

There were some !!!!! types there, but they didn't detract from our enjoyment and we ignored bad language coming from their mouths.

WE self catered so didn't eat there.

Would defo recommend. We are off to Haven in a few weeks, so it'll be interesting to compare them!

    Good luck booking!

  • All this talk of the wollocombe parks is making me want to go back for a little break:D
We stayed on wollocombe sands on a sun hol last august, and had a lovely weekend. It's not part of the four wollocombe parks, but it's actually closer to the beach than any of the the others!
Might book a weekend at the golden coast in the next round of sun hols in april.:D
