Do natwest have a right to do this?!!!! :@

Recently applied for their current account over the phone, spent over 50 mins on the phone to them, i got accepted over the phone, they said i can go into the branch give them the application ref, show my ID, sign the papers and they will sort out the rest.

Now i got a letter today saying that they can no longer offer me the account after they carried out some 'standard checks' and can no longer offer me an account.

I am quite angry about this, i phoned up their helpline explained the situation and this dozy idiot said that application (without taking any personal details from myself) when to underwriters who then approve application.

How can this possibly be? I got a straight YES you can choose any of the current accounts we have on offer when i phoned up to do the application.

To say i'm ******* off would be an understatement.

It's probably linked to the 30,000 other searches and account openings you've described in your previous posts.

Oh dear, I have to say, when I read your other posts on the subject, I did have a funny feeling this would happen. You have been AVU'd. And yes they can do this, and you haven't got a hope in hell of changing their minds.

I suggest you type Natwest AVU in the search box

  • How many applications for credit have you made since you turned 18 a few months ago?!!? Seems everytime I log in you're talking about another new application (usually because its been declined)!

Of course they can, they can accept or decline whomever they want. They don't want your money - that's the tall and the short of it.

Stop being sarcastic, doesn't suit your style.

Looks like i have been a victim of this AVU'd.

I've only made 10 in total. Just found out Equifax didn't even have me on the electrol roll, guess that didn't help in my applications.

They might make billions, but it's their loss. I was going to transfer 60k as my brother came up trumiphs on the euro's nearly 2 weeks ago and is now getting round in spending it. stick their account, no skin off my nose.

Why would you stick £60k into a Natwest bank account?

If you have that sort of money to play with put into a high interest savings account.

There is lot's more banks to choose from, but you need to wait 6-12 months before applying for any other bank due to all your credit searches.

Your only 18 (from previous posts) look after your credit file, your just starting out in the credit world.

Your right, i just waited to get their service as they are a good bank but no point in bothering them, if they don't want my service.

Yes, im going to pop into a few branches after i finish college tomorrow, and see what they can offer, if say i were to transfer the money into a high interest account and don't touch it for 12 months.

Can't apply for nothing else for a year, that's for sure.
