Hello
I have recently successfully reclaimed just over £5k from HSBC for missold PPI.
I was wondering a number of years ago my partner tried to get a consolidation loan to lump all his debts into one and he was declined but referred through to a debt management company called Gregory Pennington. Anyway to cut a long story short he handed all his debts over to them and they went away and contacted all his debtors and arranged payments etc. My partner just had to make one payment each month to GP and they did the rest, however this monthly payment also included a Management Fee.
My question is would this have included PPI and is it worth writing to GP to try and reclaim? The payment plan was finished just over 6 years ago and we dont have any info regarding account number etc.
Has anyone else successfully reclaimed PPI from Gregory Pennington or another debt management company

No. However, it wouldnt matter if it did.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Sorry but you would have been charged ppi. I was with gp for years and didn't know I was being charged ppi, I just thought it was part of the monthly fee they charge you. They charge 7.50 per 100 pound you pay. It will say something like premium protection or sterling protection on your statements. I'm currently in the process of reclaiming from them.0

Hi there,
I have been with Gregory Pennington from 2001 till 2010 approx. I was in approx 15 thousand pounds worth of debt, this has now all been paid but I am still with them through the bank account with the Royal Bank of Scotland. I am still being charged a monthly fee is this PPI? Can I claim back from them? I dont have any of the original paperwork.
I dont have a clue how to get started! Any ideas would be great!

Hi, I am new to the forum but really interested in the information on Gregory Pennington. I was with them from approx 2001 for 5 years and have received a few calls now from a company called Think insurance who said they used to be part of Stirling Insurance. They are wanting me to renew a life insurance policy I took out. I have no knowledge of ever taking out such a policy but suspected it could have something to do with GP. robnfc, any info you have on starting a claim with GP would be greatly appreciated.0

Hi Kt.
To be honest It's just the same process as a normal ppi reclaim, however they seem to be very stubborn!! I simply asked them to send me all details of any extra amounts that were added to my payments. Just remember the amount they told youre paying towards your debts is wrong. I was paying 200 a month...of which only 70% actually went towards my debts, the rest went on fees and ppi which is never explained. That in its self is enough to make a reclaim.0 -
Hi Rob, thanks for replying. I received all of my statements from GP as requested but all they show are my payments to my creditors and then a management fee, were you able to receive information from them that broke down your management fee and explained exactly what you were paying. Apologies if I am missing something simple here.0

Hi, I am still with gregory pennington after 9 years and still have two years left!!!! I cancelled my PPI over the phone 2 years ago but would like to reclaim it also do not wish to 'rock the boat'. Can i stay on the plan and claim back the missold ppi?0

Hi tracytracy1, how did you know you were paying PPI to cancel it. Was this highlighted on your statements?0
-
Yes, i noticed it on a statement and phoned gp to ask what it was for and if i could cancel it, as it would mean more money towards my debts. They agreed i did not need it and cancelled it there and then.0

I think I'm going to call the ombudsman tomorrow because I've got an awful feeling I will have been paying PPI when I was with them which was so unfair when I was crashing every spare penny of my debts. I asked for a copy of all my statements but all it said was management fee, no explanation of what that was however. I suggest you call them too and just ask their advice however, if you never asked for the PPI in the first place and you've never used the insurance then I would say you've got every right to ask for it all to be refunded without "rocking the boat". Good luck!0
