Well I was with MarkerStudy and they sold the salvage before they even paid me for the car - no option.

I've also insured with (but not made a claim through) Hastings in the past with no issues.

It's still a bit unfair to paint them as being the only company doing this based on someone else's post.

I'm sure many people have had issues with Direct Line in the past too!

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

I should have read these reviews first :exclamati Stupid me I took out my car insurance with HD yesterday. Having read their reviews I was not comfortable so today I phoned up and cancelled. Guess what they are deducting £25 cancellation fee. I had a right to and fro with them - saying I had cancelled within 24 hours clearly within the 14 day cooling off period and my policy is not due to commence before 1st March.
My policy document says I will get a full refund if the policy has not commenced. However in their booklet they say they will charge a cancellation fee, So I phone my bank and will dispute it, but cannot do this until they have taken out the money and refunded the lesser amount.
Is this legal, and does anyone know how many other companies charge a cancellation fee when within the cooling off period?
