Serious Difficulties with Orange iPhone Unlock
I phoned up Orange and paid £20 to get my iPhone 3G unlocked around December 20th. I was told an unlocking code would be emailed to me. It was not. I was told this another three times until eventually, about a month later, the code was read to me over the phone with instructions on how to use it. They didn't work. Phoned up again. Different instructions, same result.
Next time I phone up I eventually get through to their iPhone department (which I didn't previously know existed!) and was texted instructions to unlock via iTunes. No mention of an unlocking code was made in them. After a little research I confirmed this is because there is nowhere to put an unlocking code into an iPhone - it's all done via iTunes. However, the instructions didn't work. I can only assume that this is because Apple haven't recieved instructions to unlock the phone. So I phone up again and get a complete moron who insists on generating me another unlocking code which will be emailed 'in two to three days.' At this point I'd had enough and gave up.
I fail to see why I'm waiting three days for an email that won't arrive and wouldn't be any use even if it did. It's been over two months now and I'm fed up. What can I do?

I tried to do this yesterday - the guy I spoke to had obviously never seen or used an iphone in his life. Apparently it will take them 30 days to get me the unlock code (I am not holding my breath).0

Normally takes up to 30 days orange have to tell Apple/iTunes
When it unlocked you will see it in iTunes its just a waiting game
I had two of my iPhones unlocked in 2-4 days from O2 but they told me 30 days i suppose it all depends on who's contacting Apple
There is no unlocking code its done though the network and apple.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -
Yeah but that's what I'm saying, it's been well over 60 days now. Apple don't seem to have a clue and Orange 'customer advisors' less so.
FuzzyMoose, no I wouldn't hold your breath. I never received that email and, like I say and as sdduk said, an unlocking code is no use whatsoever anyway.0 -

The orange is useless with this. It took me about 10 calls before I was able to get unlock sorted.
You do need to unlock via iTune, no unlock code.0 -
Cheers sdduk, I've sent him an email. Just have to wait and see (again)!0
