i-Phone 4 screen smash!

The options I have found so far to repair a dropped and cracked/smashed SCREEN I-Phone 4 are Apple £120 straight replacement,£80 by post but 10 day wait(can't be without for that long-naturally) or £50 the dodgy shop down the road.

Has anyone ever had the man at the dodgy shop mend their screen?£50 is fine"take about an hour" but will it be any good.......or do I bite the bullet at Apple?.........£120 ouch!

Your thoughts please,
diolch/thanks

Its fairly simple to do with the right tools, plenty of youtube videos showing you how, the screens can be bought for as little as £10-15. The phone shop guy should be more than capable of doing it. Why is the shop dodgy btw?!
  • Thanks for the answers - whether to 'trust' a non Orange or Apple retailer is what I'm probably asking.

iPhone 4 screen replacement is pretty simple. Anyone can do it with the right screw driver, so you should be able to trust them.

Like every one said will be ok to take to normal repair stall/shop
i use them all the time mostly for unlocking my phones but would take my iPhone to them rather then pay apple or Orange

Also if you have more then one stall/shop were you live ask them all you may get it even cheaper i have about four near were i live.

Still in warranty? First port of call is Apple store. They might replace the handset for you for free out of goodwill.
  • I do them, for £50 also actually. Dead easy to do, dodgy shop should be fine.

Agreed, just don;t leave it with them for any length of time in case it is resold by mistake. With the parts and the tools, should take more than an hour to do. The biggest expense is the parts.
