I have never been paintballing but have been looking into it for my child's birthday party as well. However, I do have many concerns about this issue. I've heard of people getting welts all over their body from paintballing.... How many layers are you supposed to wear?! I don't want my kid coming home bruised all over the place... Any insight or advice would be appreciated.

A couple of layers of clothes will help.

They will not feel most hits, there will be the odd hit which will momentarily feel like your leg has been slapped on a cold day.

Your kids will really really enjoy themselves and the odd small welt will be their talking points and will go in a couple of days
  • Get them to pool their money and buy in bulk if they want the extra balls. It works out a lot cheaper that way, but a bit more fiddly to share out the paintballs.

As for the bruises, they are just a fact of going paintballing. Depending on where you get hit and from what distance (point blank range is not allowed, although can happen accidentally) will be the decider on how much it will hurt. In my experience they look a lot worse than they are!
  • Thanks for the replies. We've had a few people drop out now and those who are left I'm quite comfortable with so feeling more relaxed and looking forward to it:j. Those who are coming have been advised that first 100 are free and to bring some spending money in case they want more. We have free BBQ lunch but I'm also taking a picnic and plenty of drinks. I like the idea of dishing them out, that sounds sensible. We'll also try to make sure our cars are available for a quick exit. Thanks everyone. I'll report back, especially about the bruises as this concerns me too, not so much for the kids(who are all 16+) but I'm going abroad in two weeks and don't want to be black and blue!:rotfl:

It depends how trigger happy those taking part are, lats time i went i remembered buying 2 to 3 pods of balls at £21.50 each, hadnt expected to use that many.

Just wear enough clothing and you wil be fine.

Airsoft is a good alternative to consider for next time. The BB pellets used are smaller and lighter so are don't leave welts anywhere near like paintball. They're also much cheaper usually £6-10 per 3000 BBs which is easily enough for a day.
