3Pay is it still the best for my teenager!

Hi Everyone,

My eldest (15 years old) and I have mobile phones on 3Pay. We get 150MB of data, 25 text and free 3 to 3 calls for 90 days, for a £5 topup. This means that even if she uses her 150MB and £5 on the internet she can still call me. So that gets rid of all her excuses apart from I forgot to charge up my mobile, I lost my mobile. It only costs me £20 for the year for her mobile.

I am not really a mobile phone person. I put about £10 a year on my work mobile phone. My personal mobile was about £5 to £10 a year. So my own costs have doubled.

Now 3 have changed 3Pay to only 45 days. Is this still a good deal for us? My costs seem to be running away.

Thank you for your thoughts in advance.

Yes its still a good deal i don't think any other mobile company can do that on Payandgo for £5.

I think it's still a good deal (I'm on 3pay too at the moment, so had a similar problem).

One possibility you have if you have excess credit is using it up through text-message donations. The charity usually gets 100% (plus you can still do giftaid). So although it might be more costly to you, it will be money going to charity, not three. ;)

From what I am reading (please confirm) the new tarrif kicks in on the 13th March.

Make sure you top up on the 12th March if this is the case, as that way you should get 90 days from then.

Also, unless they have changed since I last checked, the do free skype to skype calls (although this depends on some extent to what phone you have). You could and probably should investigate this as it might be a good idea to get skype accounts for both of these phones. It used to be that using their own skype app/program you did not use your data allowence. The only problem was the skype ate the batteries quite quickly. Not a problem if you can get your phone on charge regular but you might want to turn skype off whilst out and about.

I believe the same was true for their MSN messenger app/program, but again you might want to check that out.

£5 for 45 days is unbeatable from what I can see, as the 3pay gives you this free period without taking your credit later. The 90 day offer was amazing and me and my familly have a total of 5 phones on it. The new users only get 30 days, which is still good but of course £5 for 90 days was amazing.

    Hi Everyone,

    I just noticed this:
    Free to giffgaff:
You need to top-up by top-up voucher, top-up by credit card or buy a goodybag from your credit card at least every 3 months to receive free giffgaff to giffgaff calls, if you don't other UK rates will apply as above. The free giffgaff to giffgaff calls last for 60 minutes per call, so you need to hang up and re-dial if you want to keep talking.
    http://giffgaff.com/goodybags/hokey-cokey-extra-minutes-free-for-each-call

Am I reading this correctly? For 3 months you get free giffgaff to giffgaff calls. I presume this means even if your credit is used up?

Once your credit is used up the calls appear to be cheaper than 3 at 10p.

Would this work in our 3 phones? One is an Android phone. Is anyone out there using this?

    Regards

    Nappy

If this is the case, I shall get everyone a Giffgaff sim and go back to paying £5 for 3 months.

Hi.Yes,that is correct.Just top up once every 3 months to get free giffgaff to giffgaff calls. If you dont,it costs 10p per minute. It is not just free calls, also free texts & video calling between giffgaff numbers.
Your phones will have to be either unlocked or locked to the o2 network to use giffgaff.

    Regards. Neil
