I live in London and I use my bus pass all the time. I also get free tube and train (after a certain time) travel.
It makes a real difference to me financially as I'm on quite a limited pension. I would be totally p****d off if it was withdrawn.
I do have a car but I hardly ever use it - mainly to visit my daughter in Oxford and when I need to transport heavy or bulky stuff. And for going to festivals in to carry the tent etc..
Locally though, I mainly walk unless the walk would be more than half an hour each way.0 -
I'm in my mid 50s, and I can't say I'm expecting to live long enough to get a free bus pass, or a state pension. But maybe that's just my pessimism because the only way these age limits have gone is up, at faster and faster intervals.Signature removed for peace of mind0

I think I heard Ken Livingstone saying he would give them back to all over 60s if he was Mayor again in London0

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, KL a great man for wasting other people`s money.
So he will give back something that`s not been taken away.
Some promise that, what he should really promise is to move to Siberia.0 -

This is happening up and down the country.
Even worse is local councils who are withdrawing funding for rural routes and so people who live out in the villages/countryside have got no service at all.0 -

Freedom passes are no longer available on reaching the age of 60. Eligibility is linked to the women's state pension age which is gradually increasing (It will reach 61 next month). KL is proposing to restore the pass to all over 60s.0
