dumb questions, sorry

hi i know this is probably a very dumb question,
i have sold my first few things on ebay and now i need to post them,
do i print an invoice of some sort to add to the parcel, do i include a return address, and should i send the items recorded, and also do i need some sort of insurance, sorry thats more than one question, i'm just a bit unsure,
thanks.

  • Just send the item, forget about the invoice I never send it. If they want the invoice they can print it out themselves. You don't need to include a return address unless your sending it overseas or recorded or Special.
  • Also make sure you get a proof of posting from the post office. You will need this receipt if anything goes wrong like it gets lost in the post.

you don't have to send an invoice, you can if you want to, i don't bother though

put a return address on the back of the package incase it gets lost it can be returned to you

it depends how much the item is worth wether you need to send it recorded or insured

if you get a certificate of posting from the post office that will cover you for up to £32

if you want proof of delivery then pay 68p for recorded but it does not offer any extra insurance over getting a certificate of posting

if it is worth over £32 send by special delivery that gives insurance up to £500 as standard

if it is heavy and/or expensive consider sending by courier

Am I unusual? I get really annoyed if I don't get an invoice with my purchases. especially when buying business supplies, I think it shows a total lack of care for buyers ( or customers in my case).

One less bit of paper cluttering up my flat is a good thing in my book.

    We're not all full-time ebayers :)

I no longer send out invoices, cuts down on cost. Most ebayers dont require them.

Will send if asked, so they can put it through there books to show expenditure.

I never send an invoice either... but then I don't send business supplies :)
I would rather not print the invoice (after all buyer can do that themselves) rather than print one and send it and know 99 out of a 100 throw them out and waste the paper...

I guess it's different if it's a business and they are selling business to business...
