This seems a good idea, is the phone easy to use just as a radio, I do not need a phone or tv! Thanks.

Yes, very easy. Main drawback is you can't play it through speakers or hi fi system because the headphones are also the ariel.
    * Sudden thought. How would a headphone socket splitter fix this?

AFAIK the headphone lead itself wil be the aerial. Plug in a longish cable and it should work.

This was the reason I sent mine back in the end. I wanted to use mine with an FM transmitter in my car (see Lobster thread). The Lobster has a 2.5mm socket/jack on the supplied earphones. I tried a 2.5mm-->3.5mm adaptor + 3.5mm splitter but whatever other 3.5mm earphones I tried as an aerial I just got no signal. Spent half an hour with Maplins staff and they couldn't figure it out - assumed that it might be a different wiring on the earphones. Whatever the reason was I just gave up in the end and got a normal personal DAB radio, where any earphones seem to work.

I saw this posted on Paid To Sop and it's a seriously good deal:

Intempo PP-01 Slim DAB/FM Radio £44.98 Tesco Deal Of The Day

    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-6967.aspx

Unlike a lot of DAB radios, this comes with a rechargeable battery pack included and these normally cost around £30 extra to buy. Therefore, if you are looking to use the radio in the garden or on the beach, overall this will work out as the cheapest DAB radio you can buy.

I just bought a Lidl 'Silvercrest' DAB, reduced from £40 (I think) to £20.

Opening the box, it works pretty well. Mains or batteries, FM or DAB with 2 speakers and alarm/snooze. The sound is not as clear as my Pure 2XT, but that cost about six times the price. All in all, a good buy. Looks OK in beech-like wood veneer, other finished available.

Now this was bought from the Clapham Junction store when it re-opened today after a big re-fit, so could be a local promotion only.
The were plenty left this evening.

    Cheers

I bought my wife one of these for Christmas. It wouldn't hold onto any stations in our house despite our other 2 Dab radios picking up all stations without trouble with very strong signals being reported.

Also the power supply buzzed rather loudly and at night it was really annoying while trying to sleep!
I returned it and got a replacement but the exact same problems. I got a refund in the end.

If you get one of these for £20 and you can pick up the stations OK and don't mind the noisy power adapter then this is still a bargain.
